My family (My Husband, two young children, and dog) were travelling home from visiting family. On our journey back we unfortunately broke down in our van on the Severn Bridge and crawled our way along until the services. We spent several cold hours waiting for assistance. When the Breakdown Technician arrived their best advice was to try again. Not surprisingly we made it 10 minutes down the road before our van broke down again! Fortunately the second time we found ourselves stranded in the beautiful village of Usk. We were freezing on this Winter evening waiting for a second recovery vehicle. One hour led to two which led to three and so on. It had been over 8 hours since we had left our relatives home. We had two young children and our puppy in the van and we were all cold and hungry. So my Husband and I decided let's see if there was anyone that would let us come inside to warm up. It was approximately 1030pm and I was frantically running around the village knocking on doors of the pubs until I eventually found the wonderful Three Salmons Hotel.I was warmly greeted by a Good Samaritan and our Guardian Angel, called David the Hotel Owner.I am quite certain by this point I was an overwhelmed stressed mess but David quickly made me feel safe and welcome. He very kindly opened up his Annexe and said there was a room available that we could all stay in. Initially we thought we would just be there for a few hours but the recovery vehicle did not arrive until the following morning. In the morning my two children were delighted to be treated with a yummy breakfast and my Husband and I grateful for a hot coffee! David and his team were extremely kind and generous to our family. I don't know how we could ever properly thank David and his Team at the Three Salmons Hotel for helping us in our time of need, our most sincere gratitude from my family.

A wonderful place to have a meal. The hotel itself is warm and welcoming and the staff are very friendly. I can't fault the meal, everything was cooked to perfection. I definitely recommend a

I went for a wedding the staff and food were amazing. However the lack of wedding coordinator was apparent as non of the guest knew where to go and when. The beds are by far the worst I have slept on. The mattress was far to soft and they definitely need more investment. The room could have done with some tlc as in the room was a massive crack in the ceiling and there was a huge gap between the door going into the room and the floor so much so I could fit my hand under it.

It's been years since I last stayed here and the old charm is still there. Yes it's dated but that's all part of what makes it what it is. Staff were cheerful and helpful, always greeting with a smile. Breakfast was perfect, with hardly any waiting time. Hopefully won't be as long before we venture along to The Three Salmons again.

Stopped off for a midday meal. It was not too busy, though more people came in after we were sat down. Drink order taken, then the food was ordered and came out fairly quickly. The food was nice and tasty. The cost was reasonable. Will call in again when in the area.

We stayed in the annex across the road from main hotel building. Although spacious the room was very dated. On using the shower due to issue with screen the floor flooded and had to use towel to mop up. During the night more water patches appeared around the toilet and nearly slipped in early hours using it. Hole around light fitting, TV remote would not work and nowhere near enough plug outlets for two guests with two mobiles. Definitely not worth the price tag but was close to Usk castle where we had a wedding. My friend stopped in room next door and was also sub par l. Breakfast was lovely so a shame about the accomodation.

A lovely venue with great outdoor seating. I ordered the food and drinks at the bar, but was surprised to be told to carry my own drinks and cutlery outside. Only because I spilled half the drinks before I reached my table. The staff were friendly , helpful and happy. Definitely service with a smile.Limited menu but great food. Home made chips and the homemade bread were fantastic.Food & drinks: Home cooked tasty food and a wide variety of drinks

From the welcoming reception staff to the very kind and helpful bar staff, this hotel is an exercise in comfort, class and customer service. We both had a bacon, brie and cranberry ciabatta in the bar which was freshly prepared, delicious and at an excellent price.Highly recommended.

The staff at the Three Salmons are friendly and helpful. The bar/lounge and reception areas are bright, inviting, clean and tidy. A few area where things may be improved. The room accommodation is a tired and could do with modernising. Also, we booked a Superior Room. My wife and I had room 7. If this was classed as a Superior Room, I dread to think how small and spartan furnished a standard room comprises. Sound proofing was another issue. With the room situated above the main road going through Usk, any sleep after about 0700 on Monday morning was out of the question. Perhaps modern double glazing instead of the dated secondary double glazing at present in place would help to solve this problem. Finally, the breakfast was adequate but the bacon was incinerated and almost inedible. Sausages were excellent and the eggs perfectly poached. In the final analysis, you get what you pay for. At £130.00 a night for 2 for B & B it's just about right. Please accept my views as constructive comment and not as a complaint.
