Quite pricey and the stock doesn't shift often - still seeing the same pieces week after week. But the staff are very nice and they often have good dance music vinyl in!

Clean tidy... but prices getting higher and higher. Even for Albany rd charity shops. A number of dresses were £22! ... which is just too much honesty. bric a brac too priced bit to much.

The shop makes efficient use of the small space it has compared to rival nationwide charities further down the road. Unlike other Cardiff branches of the charity, this shop does not suffer a revolving door of short term incompetant managers. That has ensured that a good supply of seasonal stock has been accumulated.

Albany road is the scene for charity shops there everywhere, if you plan charity shopping it could take you the whole day to get through all of them but don't miss out Barnardo's or Ty Hafan both being childrens charities and having matching colour schemes. The shop has all the random items you'd expect and some items you wouldn't of imagined, needless to say clothing are a major part of the stock with other bits and bobs laying around. I always advise scouting for books as I'm a real booky kind of guy, so this place offers the chance to get a bargain and controbute to a cause, I very much believe in they're ethos.

It's a shame this is the only Barnardo's charity shop in the Cardiff area, but the fact that it's located on Albany Road means it will invariably attract a lot of people, thankfully. This Barnardo's sells the usual range of clothing, accessories and bric-a-brac, but I must admit I was quite surprised at the amount of stock on display in such a tiny shop. Like Jody said, it can get quite busy here on weekends (but I guess you can say that for most charity shops on Albany Road), so I'd recommend coming by on a weekday morning as you'll pretty much have the place to yourself. I always enjoy shopping here as I really believe in Barnado's mission - I just they will somehow manage to open another branch somewhere else (perhaps Cowbridge Road East?).

Barnardo's is your standard charity shop with all that bric a brac fare, where you can grab a fantastic bargain. In this shop they sell your used items as well as the brand new for a reduced price. I did go here on a Saturday so it wasn't exactly the most enjoyable experience, bashing the elderly out of the way to get to that funky vintage find. I did manage to get a beautiful floral dress, probably more suited to the elderly but I can have some mighty strange taste, which is probably why I enjoy charity shops so much. Albany road is a charity shop haven and when you want your fill of charity shops then this is your place to go. With all those saved pennies you can grab yourself a nice slice of cake and a coffee as Albany road is full of establishments to suit any snacking budget.

It's really good to see a Barnardo's shop on Albany Road, as there somehow seems to be less of them about these days. It must also be a choice location for the charity, as it's situated in the right area in terms of demographics, and there's really not too much competition about either. I can only think of one other charity shop in the immediate vicinity; Scope, which will mean that the revenue that they are able to generate here should be above average. Barnardo's is the UK's leading children's charity. They do a phanominal amount of good where it is most needed. Currently they are assisting "over 132,000 children, young people and their families in urban and rural communities every year, enabling the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children to overcome issues such as poverty, abuse, homelessness, bereavement, discrimination and disability". Barnardo's ethos is simple and far reaching. They believe that everyone deserves a chance in life, and their key objective is to provide those, who would effectively fall through the net without some kind of support, with opportunities for self-betterment and inclusion. They state that "all children and young people have the right to be part of communities, groups and activities which improve their lives giving them a better start in life". Projects are based in both urban and rural communities, working alongside local people and groups to regenerate poor areas, reduce crime and create safer, healthier communities for children and their families.
