I am rapidly becoming fed up with the banking system in this country!!! I am with First Direct, who are superb (although even they are moving backwards now with an automated voice beginning their response to a phone call). I tried ringing HSBC to find out if and where I could pay in a large amount of small coin cash, correctly bagged up. I waited 5 minutes, whilst regularly being told \\\"we are experiencing high ..... etc, etc and eventually gave up and rang First Direct who, after the initial automated voice, responded almost immediately and informed me that I could take my cash to any HSBC bank. Off I went to HSBC at Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre (a 30 minute round trip), only to be told on arrival by a very polite and helpful assistant that I couldn't pay the money in there because they don't have a counter service. GRRRR!!! How easy is it, in this day and age, to put all this information on a simple website or to have just enough staff on the switchboard to avoid people having to wait forever for a response. Not impressed.
