THIS REVIEW KEEPS GETTING REMOVED. READ IT AND SPREAD THE WORD BEFORE IT VANISHES AGAIN! BOOTS CLEARLY DON?T WANT YOU TO READ THIS.Terrible eye test. Firstly, the ?top line? was VERY blurred and ? after struggling with it, was told I?d got twenty/twenty vision. REALLY? Blurred vision is twenty/twenty is it?! My vision is shocking!Secondly, in the field test they give you an audible prompt. This is ludicrous and gives false readings. After all, I found myself pressing the button based on what I was ?hearing? NOT ?seeing?. Ridiculous. I have since spoken to Asda optician and they have confirmed that an ?audible? prompt is NOT normal and that they NEVER do this. And, she echoed MY sentiments that this is akin to a hearing test. So, I feel that Boots will certainly be putting your eyes at risk. After all, if you are pressing the button based on what you are ?hearing? and not ?seeing? (as I did for some of the test) they ARE going to miss vital things in the field test. Also, they (underhandedly) ?up? the price. I asked for the price for a pair of varifocals (clear) and varifocals (sunglasses). FIRST she said, £137. Then a few minutes later it became £157. then after a chat with her colleague it became £177. So, I felt obliged to order them considering I?d been there for an hour-and-a half. So, I cancelled them the next day.Bear in mind Boots charge and extra £20 for coatings on the lenses. Asda (and probably most others) do these as standard. So, why do Boots try to ?UP? the price? When I got the refund they WITHELD the NHS voucher. Asda told me that the voucher can ONLY be supplied by the optician who did the eye test. So, it looks like Boots held on to the voucher to get BACK at me for the refund. I have your head office looking into this. Retaliation for a refund (if found to be true) is unacceptable. As I say, I?ve asked Boots head office to look into this. Not impressed at all. Will go elsewhere next time. But please take special note regarding the field test and ensure that WHEREVER you go that you ask ?IF? they do an audible prompt. If so, I would say to question this and ask for their reasons.Bear in mind, too, that Boots optician is NOT actually Boots. It?s ANOTHER company trading under the name Boots. This was mentioned in a letter they sent me, but I shredded it so can?t remember the name. So, by using the name Boots, it gives the false impression you are dealing with a reputable firm. My experience says otherwise. Especially now that Asda have confirmed that audio ?prompts? should NOT be given during a field test. After all, isn?t this equivalent to sitting a written exam wearing headphones and being fed the answers?!?!This review is my OWN experience. Make your own judgement. That?s all any of us can do.
