My one night at the OYO Braeriach could best be described as unusual and probably unfortunate, as owner was called away for a family emergency and was not around to resolve matters however, there A unique check in experience only by mobile phone to find reception staff - assisting another couple at the same time who had arrived at the same time - followed by receipt of room key and advised that there would be no breakfast facility the following morning - the nearest breakfast option being approx 800 metres away. The room was practical and importantly clean, as was the shower room. Water was hot but radiator in room was faulty giving no warmth at all. Although reported, no fix during stay. The hotel's location, for my purpose was fine, and that was my choice, however I may not choose it again. Wi-fi, although indicated that it was there, did not work in the property.Rooms: My room (1) was clean with reasonably comfortable beds. The en-suite shower-room was good and also clean. Other bedrooms shared bathroom and toilet facilities, not obvious when booking.Walkability: Hotel is on the main street through Newtonmore and has 2 or 3 local hotel restaurants nearby although important to try and book as both can get busy if a tour bus is in. There is a good walking trail around the town (wildcat trail) well signposted.Food & drinks: None available so unable to commentNoteworthy details: No lift - all bedrooms on first floor. No assistance with luggage obvious so simply be aware when you book to note the limitations and your expectations.

What a refreshing experience! The host could not have been more helpful. Recommendations for local restaurants and pizza takeouts, and even set us up with his personal laptop so that we could watch a rugby game (the bar TVs were set to Football and we werent going to try compete with the football). Good value drinks at the bar. Room was comfortable (family room) and well appointed. Definitely an option when up in the Aviemore/ Newtonmore area.

The hotel was clean and well equipped. The staff were friendly and helpful. Some rooms are ensuite others shared but all facilities were good. Older building conversion so there was the usual creaking floors but nothing to put off a good sleep! Decent value and on site bar. No food was available but great local recommendations which we made good use of. Just off the A9 it's easy to get to and parking is just on street outside so very easy. Will use again if in area!Rooms: Clean, spacious and comfortable

The hotel was very clean and the clerk was friendly and helpful. The bed I had had a mattress with a lump on the left side making sleep difficult. Everything else was fine.

If you want to be eaten alive by your bed stay here! Bed bugs are an issue, otherwise great value for money because it was a good deal but man I hope I don?t bring the bed bugs to anywhere else?

Great value for money. Pretty basic but worth it for the solo traveller. No frills, no spills.

Payed ~70£ per night for a so-called "suite" in this awkward house which did not really met my expectations, which I had from the online pictures. Our room was quite small, thin-walled and dim and some dirt was found. The bed had its lowest point at the headside. The bathroom caused a disgusting smell (probably the drain) that could not be managed because the air vent did not work. The leaky basin led to a permanent puddle in the bathroom. The funny housekeeper was informed, which promised that both issues will be fixed the next morning. You guessed it: Obviously, nothing has been done. All in all, it could have been worse, but was a quite mediocre experience.

Great little place, warm welcome, great bar with wood fire, clean room and good shower. Lovely place

The room was small and hard to get around. The toilet needed a plumber's diploma to fill and to flush and the bathroom stank, probably because the fan wasn't working. Be aware that many of the rooms are directly above the pub so can be noisy, although they do seem to shut early. No breakfast was available. On a positive note the bed was comfortable and the shower effective. Parking at the door was easy.

I booked for a family group of eight and we all found this hotel to be very good value for money with a friendly and helpful manager. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean. It was exactly what we wanted.
