Fantastic accommodation, great

Where to start? First of all the location is fabulous, a 15-20 minute walk from the village, which has a community shop, cafe, pub and restaurant (all locally run and outstanding quality). The cottage has mountain and woodland views. We rented the whole house as self-catering. It is so beautiful, huge windows, very warm and cosy in October/November, a lovely and comfortable space to spend time in. Well equipped kitchen and comfy sofas. Everything has been done to a very high standard. Britta was extremely helpful, collecting us from the ferry and making sure we had everything we needed. She was always available for any questions we had during our stay. There was a welcome basket and items in the fridge, which was unbelievably generous and plentiful, and very welcome and enjoyable. The community shop stocks most other things that you might need, and you can order from the Co-op in Mallaig should you need anything extra. Britta also cooks wonderfully, so you can order a freshly prepared meal which she delivers. We had the most wonderful cullen skink, followed by venison stew and cheeseboard. It came with delicious extras like freshly made bread. Just beautiful. (Only small point is it's not always entirely easy to understand from the website exactly what you're booking in terms of number of rooms available for that booking, so worth clarifying in advance.) Knoydart is such a special place, full of wildlife, friendly people and beauty everywhere you look.

We booked the whole cottage but on arrival we realised it wasn't the whole cottage as one of the bedrooms was locked so we didn't get the option to choose which bedrooms we preferred. Also, we only found out after we had paid in full that the restaurant was closed for the duration of our visit. Very disappointed as the food/restaurant was one of the main reasons we booked River Cottage. The other restaurant in Inverie only had a very limited menu and is a two mile walk there and back. House/location is lovely though.

We didn't stayWe walked in from Glenfinnan and had ordered dinner from britta, take away because of covid. Not only was it really really good food, fulfilled our 3 day wilderness fantasies, but we were very touched that she also added wine glasses cutlery napkins, had chilled the wine and also lent us a corkscrew. And she said she would pick up our rubbish the next dayVery highly recommended

We visited River Cottage on one of Britta?s speciality nights - Scottish Tapas. We were one of three tables in the dining room and the other two tables were staying at River Cottage but we were made to feel so welcome from the minute we walked in. The place is beautiful - cosy and chilled out. They have a nice wee selection of beers, wine, spirits and soft drinks. But the main event - the dinner - was simply spectacular. We were brought out the starters - melon and Serrano ham, roasted veg, tomato and olive salad and chilli and herb bread. The presentation was amazing and the food was so fresh and delicious, I would have been happy with just the starters! The main course arrived - a mixed seafood paella adorned with huge langoustines, crab claws, clams, mussels, and some juicy chicken thigh meat and quite possibly the finest chorizo I?ve ever tasted. The paella was absolutely amazing, and again the presentation was enough to make the whole meal feel like an event. Despite being full to the eyeballs thanks to the generous portions, we could not resist dessert - warm churros with chocolate dipping sauce and two mini Creme Brûlées, all garnished with perfectly ripe strawberries. A fresh cafetière of coffee finished the evening off and we toddled off into the dark with our bellies full and completely blown away by the meal we?d just eaten. The service was fabulous, the food was absolutely fantastic and the value for money was frankly humbling. If you are going over to Inverie and are looking for somewhere to eat then you have to book River Cottage if you can. You will not regret it.

We stayed as a family of 3 and rented the whole cottage. We had a fantastic stay and Britta was very welcoming throughout the stay. We got treated to homemade bread and cake on arrival. Lots of breakfast products too! The cottage itself was fantastic. Very big and well equipped with everything you need. All rooms were spacious and had ensuits and balconies. It really was a fantastic place to stay and we couldn't recommend it enough. We ordered dinner on two nights via Britta and wish we ordered it on every night. Britta's cooking is nothing short of exceptional. We are taking very, very high restaurant quality. No exaggeration. Big tip!! Speak to Britta before you arrive and arrange dinner so she has time to order supplies. You will not be disappointed. If you are looking for remote luxury then this is the place for you. We will be returning.

Luxury twin bed, 2 double bed (with extra single) and self-catering double bed studio run by very accommodating hostess Britta Bernard. Very comfortable and new and top class. No TV in studio but free wi-fi, fridge, cooker complimentary tea, coffee, cookies. Monsoon showers. Decking. Storage area for bikes. Drying room. Excellent 5 star breakfast served by very pleasant knowledgeable local university student . Britta also transports luggage to & from the ferry terminal where there are sheltered metal cages to hold same. She can also provide meals some nights such as Seafood or Mexican themed. Best B&B I've stayed in. Highly recommended. Used as base for biking and hiking the Corbetts around Inverie
