It's disgraceful the prices they charge in this shop. £2.39 for a 500ml bottle of Irn Bru, which can be bought for £1.20 other places. They're taking advantage of patients and visitors. There's no excuse for this kind of mark up. It's a good location with plenty of footfall. Also £1.50 for a double decker... avoid and bring your own stuff!

Nice shop. Very handy when walking into the hospital. Small but has very good selection on offer. The staff member on was very friendly and attentive. Can be busy at lunchtime. There is a self serving till, handy in beating the queues.

Surely i'm not alone in thinking that the care in this hospital is not what we expect for our parents in this day an age ¡¡¡ its an absolute disgrace the worst hospital experince you should ever experince

The last couple of days my left eye (that's the one with the stitches in it, the right eye is still waiting for that pleasure) has been driving me insane. I was sitting and felt this sharp, shooting pain up the left side of my face and i immediately knew what it was: one of my stitches had become loose and we were ready to part ways. And my surgeon has always told me not to suffer this pain, but to call immediately and one of my three surgeons will take the stitch out. So that's exactly what I did and true to their word, within an hour I was at the hospital waiting to get my stitch taken out. Even down to the receptionist, everyone knows me and knew why I was there. As I visit so often, I've become somewhat of a regular and let's be honest, everyone knows I'd rather not be there. But they are all so friendly and take a few minutes to chat, it just makes me feel a little better. I waited for about 30 mins and then my surgeon seen me and within seconds, the stitch was out my eye. The relief is incredible, it's the best feeling in the world. All it took was a needle, a pair of tweezers and me being told where to look and NOT TO MOVE! Having had 17 stitches in my left eye, I'm down to the final few and unlike other stitches, they decide when they are taken out. But I've never been left to suffer and whether on a weekday or weekend, one of my surgeons has been there to take my stitch out. Incredible service. I honestly couldn't be happier right now.

I'm not the biggest fan of hospitals, but needed to have an MRI done and was sent to Gartnavel. I agree with Sarah T. in saying that from the outside, there's not much to the building, but my experience inside was a pleasent one. My appointment was on a Saturday, super early in the morning (8am) and I was able to get parking easy enough. It's free on the weekends which is a huge help as I had forgotten to bring cash with me that morning. Walking in, it was like a ghost town, but I was able to speak to the information desk personel and was pointed in the direction I needed to go. Since I was early, they were able to take me in before the person who was meant to be there but never showed up. Score. I was taken in to the MRI room by a really nice lady and was told exactly what was going to happen. After I was put in to place on the bed, I was asked if I wanted to listen to music since the machine is quite loud. Since it was around Christmas time when I was there, they had Christmas music to listen to which made my day. i was in and out of there in about 45 minutes, which wasn't too painfully slow. The staff here are really friendly and helpful and I didn't mind my visit in the slightest.

Most patients I saw seemed worse at the end of a week in there. No attempt was made to find appropriate food until a family member intervened on this matter. One staff member made a very cutting comment to an elderly patient who was clearly in pain. The cleanliness of my relative was terrible resulting in sores. If it'd been a young kid you'd have gone to the authorities about it! It seems a well known 'secret' from those who see patients after they have been in there. The NHS is free at the point of delivery but I can tell you there'd be a dispute over any bill if that wasn't the case!

Although Gartnavel lacks a lot from the outside, mainly due to it being a bit of an eye sore. However, its not the building that makes a good hospital but instead the staff and when it comes to the staff of Gartnavel it is an A star hospital. Friendly staff all round from doctors to porters to tea ladies. A very clean hospital , that is vacummed, moped and buffed daily.
