The worst hotel I have ever stayed in.The room stank, there was no other available on the first night. Astronomically high prices, poor service and leaky windows next to a noisy street. The hotel only deserves one star because the city center is within walking distance.

My family and I stayed at the OBH in late Sep 2023 for five days. We had a great experience. Our room was big enough for the three of us and was very comfortable. The pub downstairs does not get loud even on the weekends. The best part is the free parking. St Clement's street is loud due to the amount of ambulance traffic but the rooms seem to insulate most of the noise. The location is fantastic for walking around Oxford.Rooms: Comfortable. Good wifi. No A/C.Food & drinks: The pub downstairs is a nice for a cold beer but does not serve food.Noteworthy details: Free parking

Stayed after reading previous reviews, when we arrived on Friday , we were shown to our room, don?t get me wrong , it wasn?t the Hilton, but was good enough. No issue with the shower as mentioned in the last review, and looking at it , the shower was new. We were at the front, and yes there was a DJ playing, and to be honest, if you book a stay in a pub over bank holiday weekend, you could safely say there is going to be some sort of entertainment going on, so don?t book a pub and stop moaning( previous review) and also the music, although not to my particular taste, was pretty good. I wouldn?t hesitate staying there again. Only issue was the small cooler, wasn?t cool enough. We stayed in room 5

At £100 a night with free parking, you get what you pay for. Have stayed here a couple of times, and it?s been fine as a base. You expect some level of noise and disruption, it?s a pub on a busy road. Stayed here this weekend and was happy that we got a room at ground level with no stairs and easy access. Once in the room and got properly acquainted, there were a couple of things that were not ok, even for a cheap and cheerful break. The kitchen was filthy The bathroom windows full of mould The shower is dangerous, either freezing you to death or giving you third degree burns. No water pressure so the toilet doesn?t flush . Didn?t see the point in saying anything, we were only going to be in the room at night and we would manage. On the Sunday afternoon we had returned to the room for a rest, to be woken up by ridiculously loud music- a DJ had set up right outside the bedroom window, the room and the windows were shaking and it was unbearable. Quickly got ready and left to go out for food. We returned at around 10 pm to find the music still playing, you could hear it from the Magdalen bridge. The beer garden was rammed, which is obviously good for business but there was a very strong smell of weed. Not judging and I was glad people were having a good time, each to their own and all that. But there was absolutely no thought for guests. I asked why we hadn?t been informed of the event and apparently it was a last minute thing. So tough luck basically. This completely ruined what had been a lovely weekend up to that point. I don?t think the place should be advertising as anything other that a place for contractors to stay, it?s lost it?s focus and is an absolute hovel.

Would definitely recommend. Pete, who runs the pub, was extremely welcoming and friendly, offering tips on what to see and how to get there. Very quaint building, the floors and walls were all uneven due to the age of the building but our room was nice and clean and had everything we needed for a one night stay. We were even able to leave our luggage before and after check in/out so we could wander around Oxford unhindered.

Discovered we had no hot water at 8:50pm, went down to speak to clerk but the place was closed tight, cold showers all around...Emailed them immediately. Went down in the morning to see what they would do to try to make it right, but still closed tight. Still have no response to the email over a week later...not to mention beds were severely uncomfortable. I'd look elsewhere!

A lovely old pub, rooms were clean and well presented. unfortunately, my friend forgot to ask for a room on the lower floor due to my disability. Hence, we got a room that was challenging to access if youre tall or have mobility problems. The landlord was not very helpful, so very uncomfortable stay! So, if you're disabled with mobility problems, this might not be for you! Its also on a very busy road, so some traffic noise.Nearby activities: Good location you can pretty much walk to the city centre and also it's at the back of the famous Cowley Road..you have bars & restaurants walking distance

I stayed here in November of 2022. When I arrived there was no heat in my room and it was very cold. It took 2 hours to get anyone to come check out the heater in my room after multiple visits to the front desk, and assurances from the first visit that someone would be by in 10 minutes.Eventually one of the other guests at the bar who knew the owner (not a staff member of the hotel) called him for me and he got someone to look at my room. It was determined the radiator did not work after about another 30-45 minutes. I was asked if I could stay in the room and take an extra blanket. I refused and after I stated I would like a refund and would find lodging elsewhere I was given a new room. It was a bizarre experience that I would not like to relive.

Owner Pete is a true Gent. Choice of staff could be better . Onwards and upwards for him and the Business.
