Great quick and casual restaurant in the covered market. The vegan pies were enjoyed by both the vegetarian and the carnivore. Enjoyed the creamy mash and the mushy peas.

As a Londoner I have a good knowledge and experience of Pie and Mash meals. Considering the best authentic pie and mash shop in London (which serves gluten free deep pastry pie, double scoops of mash, liquor, peas) charges approx £7 or less. The comparative of one shallow pie and and not much mash (which didn't seem to be made with butter and little to no milk), without mushy peas (they are not gluten free), and without liquor (they don't sell it!?!?), but with some gf gravy; cost a few pence short of £10 is somewhat audacious. This shop was a disappointment for a list of reasons:The meal was not at all great. I have enjoyed supermarket gluten free frozen pies far better. It was served to me in a box (the person who took my order told me from the get go that he was going to only give me a takeaway box, a dinner plate was somehow not an option) which seemed to be a deterrent for me to eat in. The following episode made me quite willing to not remain on the premises:When taking my order he was just talking fast at me not looking at me or even standing still in front of me to take my order. He was just walking off all over the place behind the counter. I needed a gluten free pie, I was trying to find out which pies I could have and what their content was. He just wouldn't stand still and speak with me. If the excuse is that he was busy, the order took far longer because he just didn't stand still in front of me to advise then take my order in a straightforward efficient manner. He was also quite rude when I returned after a 20 minute wait for the pie to cook. When I made a reference to the sign in the shop requesting for reviews to be left online his flippant response was: "I don't care about reviews. I am not likely to be here for long anyway". This was when my food was meant to be served to me (at the same counter the order is placed and where other customers are placing food orders), again he was not bothering to assist me. I brought to his attention that while he was being rude and obnoxious there are other customers present. He then apologised to them (not me) and initiated the action to take their food orders (which he more than once got wrong). The saving grace in the dining experience was another member of staff, Devon, who seemed to be the kitchen person and clearer in the dining area. He took over my food order and kindly dished up and brought my food to me. He was incredibly gracious and made apologies for his colleague. This is clearly a quality member of staff who most likely bears the brunt of the front of house colleague who handles the food orders and payments. I only had to experience the rude and arrogant staff member for a short time, and I am certain never again (as I will NOT be returning), but Devon who is a true gem of a member of staff most likely has to exercise patience and grace all day long in order to work with his colleague. In summary: the price is ostentatious considering London pie shops offer better pies, larger servings, and with authentic liquor. The front of house staff seems to struggle to deliver any competent or polite customer service, and he is quite arrogant. Nothing about the location, service or food justifies the cost of £9.95 which exceeds all London pie and mash shop prices.

Friendly and efficient staff. Deer Stalker 'mothership' with mash and mushy peas was sublime. Busy but cosy And comfortable atmosphere.

Probably the best pie I?ve had in a while and I?m not a pie-eater. Had the veggie option which is frankly delicious with that gravy. Minty peas were alright but the mash was nice. Thank you to the guy who served me. He was adorable!

Pieminister for the win!In love with their pies! I had a beef steak, dry cured bacon and red wine pie and a beef steak & craft ale pie with gravy . Both absolutely delicious! You can also get mushy potatoes, cheesy mush, mushy peas and a few other sides as far as I remember.Definitely a must visit place if you?re in Oxford.

The really tall nice fella who served us yesterday around 4ish deserves a pay increase as he represented the height of customer hospitality anywhere in Oxford, during our day trip. The pies we took away were also of exemplary quality - amazing pastry and generous well seasoned, delicious filling.

Great pies. Really liked the goats cheese pie and Cheesy mash. Worth getting there early if you want a full selection of pies as they do run out. Not loads of seating inside but we arrived at 2:15 so it wasn't very busy at that timeVegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options. Clearly an active choice and not just an afterthoughtDietary restrictions: They cook gluten free pies in the same oven but on separate trays so good for coeliacs. My wife is a coeliac and she ate happily and with confidence. The man serving us explained that they couldn't guarantee no cross contamination but that they take all measures possible. Only 3 of the pies had gluten free options (2 meat, 1 vegetarian) and they took 20 mins to be cooked but we went and grabbed a coffee in the meantime

Not sure if the closing time of 10pm on Google is incorrect or maybe they were closing early but arrived at 6 to find only 4 options left and wasn't allowed to sit inside. There are benches outside but trying to eat a pie with a small wooden knife and fork in a little square box is more difficult than it sounds. The pie was nice and would eat it again.Vegetarian options: This isn't chicken and bacon pie.

Waited about 20-25 min for my pie since there was nothing out that I wanted, so I got this one fresh! Despite the name "Moo and Blue", it took me until I put the pie in my mouth to realize it had blue cheese in it. Nowhere near an overwhelming amount, though, so you get the taste of it without that little shiver when you eat too much. The meat was tender and the mash and peas were also good. Overall, would return if I was ever in the area again.

Seems like some people have had issues with the cleanliness during their visit. We had no such issues?and my wife pays particular attention to those elements, notably the health code violations. The pies were delicious. I had a traditional beef and ale, my wife had a chicken one with peas and such. I went back for a second and got the chicken tikka. The cheesy mash potatoes were also great. I was told you always get gravy and have no issue to doubt this advice ex post. The only issue was that I ate so much that I was full for the next day and a half.

Our lunch here was absolutely delicious! The restaurant was really nice and tidy and clean. We weren?t sure what to order but Harneek helped us decide and we both went for the chicken funghi. He was very polite and helpful and we will come back to try some of the others he recommended. Recommend pie minister to everyone ?

Terrible. I went 3 times during the lunch period, each time they were out of pies and told me they were cooking more giving me times and each time I?d come back to them having no more pies, or a couple very obscure vegetarian pies. There were people walking away hungry each time, so why didn?t they just cook more?? The staff clearly didn?t care. I eventually got the last steak and stilton pie and it was really gross. The stilton was so overpowering I couldn?t taste anything else? and almost no meat in it.

Unfortunately the staff were super rude - we stood around waiting at the till to order, while a staff member watched us wait. When someone finally came over to us, we were informed that there was absolutely nothing left. Why didn?t they let us know when we walked in?Why didn?t they inform us, instead of watching us wait?Just weird

Delicious pie. It could be better if it is crunchy. Very good
