We went there as a group of about 20. We had given our orders in advance but the service was appalling. Had to wait a really long time for each course. Food was passable. The cold dessert was brought out on hot plates and most people had finished theirs before their companions was brought out. After waiting for ages we had to remind them that we had ordered tea and coffee. This was brought out one at a time and most people had left by the time the last one was served. There only seemed to be 2 young kids looking after everything. It was also very cold in the room.

Group of four, we had beef, vegetarian wellington and two chicken dishes. Accompanied by, red cabbage, cauliflower cheese, green beens, carrots all well cooked, tasty and plentiful. For desert several home made apple crumble with custard and chocolate brownie. Less than £25 a head but we didn't purchase any alcoholic drinks. It was cosy comfortable and relaxed with friendly staff. Hight recommended.Parking: Small cramped car park, street parking

Really good Sunday roast dinner! My friend had the lamb, and I had beef. Both portions were generous and very well cooked. The meat came with roast potatoes, turnip, broccoli, fine green beans, carrots, a lovely cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pud and gravy. We had the cheesecake and brownie with vanilla ice-cream as desserts, followed by coffees. Great service and delicious meals and good value. Highly recommend and will be returning.

The food was delicious and the gluten free options available were also delicious. Service was attentive and good. We had a very enjoyable, all the family pre Christmas meal.

Family Sunday lunch. We'll priced for food, cosy country pub atmosphere. Perfectly cooked fresh vegetables. Slight negatives - roast potatoes not crisp & beef not pink (altho this is my own preference). Staff friendly, helpful. Would revisit as had an enjoyable experience in the main.

Oh, how I wish all pubs were like this. All was excellent from the moment we walked in (late). The service was superb throughout, with smiling, helpful and knowledgeable staff. We were served at a good pace, neither rushed nor waiting overlong, and nothing we asked for was too much trouble. And then, of course, there is the food. This was roast at its best, everything cooked well and a lovely variety of vegetables. I know of many other pubs that would benefit from coming to visit the Griffin and learn how to run a pub restaurant. The desserts were equally as good. This was an excellent value meal and for us, a great find. We will be back soon - only this time we will endeavour to arrive on time. A heartfelt thank you all round.
