Visited in March 2024The GoodA friendly welcome greeted us at this converted windmill. Set in stunning countryside in a beautiful part of the East Riding, this restaurant is authentically top-tier Italian. The menu is extensive, and the dishes are expertly prepared using fresh ingredients.Service was attentive yet not intrusive, and at all times friendly.I'd be equally happy taking the family with children for an early quick dinner, or whiling away the later hours over a bottle of Limoncello with friends. The BadThere's nothing bad here. The remote location adds to the atmosphere and is worth the trip. If drinking is an essential part of dinner for you, then someone will need to drive.Top TipThe Prawns and Monkfish Tagliolini gives a real taste of the sea. You could be standing on the quay in Savona.

Let me tell you - any place that serves full sized burrata on your pizza (or even have burrata on the menu), for me is a good one. Burro, in the middle of countryside has exceeded all my expectations! I?ve been twice now and it?s WORTH the trip out of York. This is not your half-arsed Italian, it?s an amazing establishment that has number of delicious food options. The set menu is brilliant, although doesn?t cater than many vegetarian options for mains I was able to pick a great pasta and adjust my pizza to make it veggie. Their truffle arancini are my favourite option as a starter, and if you can manage their full size desserts will finish you off. Great quality, sizes and prices. Please pay them a visit!I will take photos next time for sure

Food was delicious. The atmosphere was very relaxed, despite the restaurant getting bust.

A fine Italian gaff in an old circular mill in a small village north of Selby. Genuine Italian cuisine with specific dishes of Sicilian origin. I had darn good ravioli stuffed with cingiali ...exactly the right amount with fewer, larger pieces than is usual. The San Marzo tomatoes and small black olives added a savoury, spicy punch. An excellent large glass of Negroamaro accompanied it well. The broccoli tasted good but suffered a little from being served with the whole stalk so that the large bases were a tad too 'al dente' for my liking. The tiramisu pud was delicious. Coffee in a generous cup was fine with hot milk as requested on the side. But...grrr...I did not like the brown sugar requested being delivered in those ridiculous small sealed thin paper sachets. Tasteless, dry and hard to get into. Get some tongs, Demerara cubes and little silver salvers for them to go in. Then you'd get a full 5*s from me! And all for a reasonable £35. Many thanks!

This was a special family meal with a relative who was staying over. The food is amazing, very authentic and probably the best Italian dishes we have ever tasted. Of course the service is also very important to us too. We could not fault the service at all, we were looked after in every aspect. A lot of restaurants could learn from Burro. Really worth a visit, highly recommended.

Here's a corrected version:Never walked out of an Italian restaurant until now. If you like your food to look grey and moldy, they mix charcoal with most dishes for some bizarre reason, so the pizza looks grey & moldy! add more salt than the North Sea, and make it unbearably hot! I sent the first calzone back as it was grey and looked like it had just washed up on the beach. I have never seen a pizza made like this in my life. I asked to have normal looking calzone made which it did, but I couldn't eat it as the spice was overpowering. I've never not eaten a calzone in my life! Avoid unless the above type of food is for you, go elsewhere if you prefer normal looking & tasting Italian meals

Beautiful building/location, polite and courteous staff, great cocktails, and amazing food for every course with a really reasonable set menu. Would definitely go again.Dietary restrictions: GFO options throughout the menu.Parking: Small carpark but worth the effort.

Five of us for a later lunch today (20/01) and wow! Superb. Nice bread appetiser, a lovely selection of starters which included ?incredible? scallops, and a lovely cheese, meat, and bread board. Mains were fabulous. My calzone (black dough) was simply the best calzone I?ve ever had, and it was similar from round the table from wild boar ravioli to nuggets and chips all receiving top marks. A couple of puds - delicious salted caramel ice-cream - followed, as did a complimentary shot of limoncello (my 7 year old was given a ?shot? of apple juice to join in, a lovely, unasked for touch) Service was friendly and prompt throughout, fellow diners all looked to be enjoying their meals, and the building was warm. A bill of just shy of £200 for 4 adults both eating three courses, a table appetiser, kids menu, a few beers and ciders, coffee etc. was fab value considering the quality. Superb!

Visited as a group of 12. First impressions were great. It?s a really interesting building and different to other run of the ?mill? restaurants.Food was incredible. Really high quality. I recommend both the Mussels and Pizza.Service started off brilliant, but we were forgotten about after the mains and had to chase up desserts and coffees on a few occasions - I think the staff were busy preparing for evening service.Unfortunately we had a nightmare with the bill. It originally came over £200 more than what it should have been. They checked and it came back with a few more errors, so took a while to resolve the issue.Overall a good experience and I?m sure they were only one off issues. We?ll definitely give it another go!

Enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at the Burro today. Located on the fringe of Riccall looking out onto open countryside, a beautiful venue to be had.Every seat in the restaurant was taken but the friendly, attentive staff were always on hand. We were well looked after. Our food was absolutely beautiful too. Looked beautiful, smelled beautiful and tasted beautiful too.A true delight
