Hopeless. In fact hopeless is doing a disservice to the genuinly hopeless businesses out there. Just trying to switch my daughters bank account to a student account has taken over a week. After wasting countless hours on chats and the phone with various off shore idiots we ended up being told to visit our local brach which unfortunately led us to St Helens due to the rest being shut down. Surprisingly the numbskull who we dealt with told us to do it online so round and round we go. Never, ever take an account with HSBC unless you really enjoy ulcers.

I did not appreciate the lady behind the counter talking about fraudulent transactions as I was paying a small sum of cash into my account (less than £600), like to hint to me just because I have abit of money in the bank and was dressed like a 'chav' on this particular day. Telling me I have to prove where my money comes from in future as she was sieving through my transactions. Which I thought was rude!No lady, I have worked since I was 15 and now 29 I am old fashioned i dont belive in credit cards and all that malarkey if I want to save my money from home then deposit I will. Not to mention my late mother worked for HSBC as a bank manager all her adult life.

Went to the St Helens branch yesterday. The staff member who greeted customers as they walked in was extremely helpful and friendly. They have some good measures in place to make the branch covid secure.

Went in just to deposit some cash into my account, I had been locked out of my online banking and on a whim asked staff about it. The lady I spoke to was very kind and understanding and did her upmost to get me back online, now the problem is sorted. Very good customer service from all staff i dealt with 5/5.

Opened my account with First Direct last year and had to go into this branch one two occasions - once to get cash out while waiting for a new debit card and again to get cash after a machine retained my card. On both occasions I had been informed via phone banking that the branch would know about the issue and would be expecting me. Unfortunately I had to deal with the same very rude young lady behind the cash desk on both occasions, who possessed the attitude of a stroppy teenager and was very unhelpful. Who employs these people? Aren't staff at least sent on a basic customer care course? Wouldn't recommend.

Fixing an appointment. Impossible by phone. It is all centralised and I just wanted to change the time of an appointment. I was put through to a call centre, where the person could not even make out my post code when I said it. We have just had to change branches from Prescot (closed down) to St. Helens. At the same time my on line banking has decreased. When I eventually get there and see someone, it will be the fourth time. It is costing money. And no service at all.

I just love all financial advisors at HSBC. They make you feel like you matter.
