1st time they reschedule the mot test without informing you, 2nd time they don't they cannot find that you have premium subscription and don't let you use your free mot and don't try to solve the problem as they have a lot of tires to change..Very disappointed ??? 09/01/2024

Avoid this garageHalfords autocentre may be slightly cheaper than the average garage, but what you save up financially, you still lose in stress.Took my car there for MoT and full service, and they kept it for nearly 2 weeks because they messed up the order for the replacement part that failed the MoT. When I picked the car up, it started making scraping noises, and they told me that it was just a stone caught between the brake disc and pad. I asked them to take the car apart and verify what the noise was, and they started getting very rude and confrontational, saying that "they had nothing to do with it."After they 'checked it', they couldn't figure out the noise, but told me the car was safe to drive. I had to take the car to another mechanic to get the issue sorted, and they showed me a WOBBLY wheel that wasn't tightened properly and was scratching my disc. Talk about safety concerns!They're incompetent liars and don't own up to their mistakes. Halfords customer support is a nightmare, and good luck getting any sort of resolution. I've been waiting for over 2 weeks for a reply.If you're considering this autocentre, do yourself a favour and take your car to an independent trustworthy mechanic instead. They're the autocentre equivalent of a fast food chain restaurant with poor standards.

Horrible customer service. Rude and abrupt staff. Not what you want when being told about a large bill or failed MOT.Failed my MOT (not the fault of the auto centre) but the treatment when getting my car back and then going in for the retest was ridiculous. Was advised (poorly) that my car was not worth the repairs and not to bother and that they do not do the repairs that my car needed. I failed on 2 different things and asked about the other repairs that they may be able to do and was was just met with reluctancy to speak to me, and an attitude of "just get rid of it" with no real option to get a quote from them to carry out half of the work. Left originally, quite confused and obviously a bit worried I asked about the retest if I do manage to get my car fixed. The response was just 'bring it back in 14 days'.I went off to get some quotes for the repairs, and was able to fix my car for far less than they had suggested it would cost. Which was a massive relief as the cost of repairs was 1000x cheaper than scrapping and buying a new car....Went back in for my retest and when returning to pick up, they then informed me of a retest cost - something I wasn't made aware of. The staff were quite rude over this after I questioned it, stating that if I had had it repaired there it would've been free. Trying to explain to them that I physically could not get it repaired there as they don't do the fixing I required they then got quite rude and said I could've had some of the work done there - again I informed the 2 gentlemen that he told me not to bother getting it done so was just going by the advice given by their own staff. His response was 'well yeah I wouldn't have bothered'. It's not about the cost as if this is a Halfords policy I can accept that, it was not being informed about it and then the aggressive behaviour back when questioned - had I known about the cost I wouldn't have returned to them for the retest.Not usually one to complain, but in all dealings with this auto centre the service and rudeness was prevalent throughout, both in person and on the phone. In a customer facing role such as the front desk, the bare minimum would be to be treated with some politeness or manners, something in which the staff I experienced here lacked. Also, whilst I appreciate mechanics are the experts the advice I was given was false and had I followed just getting rid of my car, the bill I would've been faced with to get another would have been far more costly, not exactly a feasible option.I personally would not return here, which is a shame as other auto centres have always been far better on their service, but it definitely has not left a good impression.

Watched them make 2 separate girls cry for no reason. Everyone was turning up at 8:30 am for their drop off appointment but everytime a girl went to the till they would just start having a go that their appointment isn?t at half 8 they just need to drop it off at half 8 which not only didn?t need to be said but definitely didn?t need to be said in that tone. They failed to be that rude to the men that walked in at the same time. They had Customer service experience of an unused door knob and gave off vibes that they charge for fixes that don?t need to be made.

Took car for MOT check, now it?s making screeching noises, smells of burning and claims car needs £500+ of work doing to it?Do not take your car to this place. Car wasn?t doing this before it was left in the hands of these people. Unreliable and absolutely disgusting

I'm the one to always look around to see what's out there when looking for MOT. After being practically ripped off at a place I won't mention, I became a halfords motoring club member for a low, affordable price, I got an MOT for free. I was expecting to buy 1 maybe 2 more tyres for my car, as I was told by another business I would need them, so I ordered a tyre to be fitted whilst doing my MOT at halfords. I was phoned not even 45 minutes after dropping the car off that the car passed its MOT with no advisories, and the new tyre they could put on if I wanted, but it wasn't a fail and I had a little more wear in it.For that reason alone I give a 5* review. One thing I love especially when it comes to cars which can become expensive when fixing is honesty, especially with the current crisis. I will continue now to use halfords after receiving outstanding service to do 6 monthly checks and 6 monthly services.There are a lot of greedy dealerships, garages out there that will do anything to get extra money or commission, but this was nothing more than excellent and I would highly recommend. Took my car for a free health check to make sure that the car is safe and fit drive, I had a few concerning noises that I felt needed addressing,After several men took the car around the block and put it on the ramps they deemed the car 100% safe, no recommendations for any work to be done and it was in tip top condition.The noise was SO BAD i was shocked and I took it for a 2nd opinion to which I was told and shown that the wheel bearings and ball joints were completely broken and DANGEROUS making the car unfit to drive and it wouldn?t pass an MOT.So DO NOT put your safety in these guys hands as they clearly had their eyes and ears shut with a it?s not my problem attitude ? only positive is that it was a free check.

Gave me a quote just shy of £2500 for parts & labour. Went down the road to Shakespeare with the list halfords gave me and they quoted me £1200. Halfords is a rip off. They also once put a coil spring on upside down which isnt even supposed to be possible afaia.

I popped in for a check on a potential fuel leak following some work somewhere else. The guys couldn?t be more helpful to investigate for me, did some tightening and investigation and gave me some advice. I didn?t catch the name of the lad that helped me but he was excellent. Thank you.
