What a frustrating experience shopping in asda Stevenage today. Spent 20 minutes looking for jars of mincemeat. I walked up and down every aisle. Asked two of your colleagues. Told aisle 21, nope, not there. Asked another of your colleagues who was picking orders. He took me to the jam section, the home baking section, the seasonal section. Still couldn't find it. Finished my shopping and made my way to the tills. As I had a lot of items in a trolley, I went to a manned till. Only two cashiers. One with 5 people waiting, And one with 4 people. It took an eternity to get through. Many of those queuing were commenting how frustrating it is. The cashiers were very pleasant and worked quickly. It was the volume of customers and shopping for just two tills open. Compared to the amount of staff in asda, this is appalling. Equally appalling is the reason for doing it. To reduce staff numbers. Making us do your job for you by self checkout. Sainsburys do it too. Take a leaf out of the supermarket chain from the north of the country, Booths, who have gone back to manning all their tills. Its been a while since I had shopped in asda, its going to be a lot longer before I go back.

Absolutely awful queing this morning. Only 2 tills in use the queues were horrendous even on self scan and self checkout. They need more staff especially this time of year.Management need to grip this or they will loose customers to other supermarkets

Very busy afternoon only 2 tills open the manager said there?s no ppl? more than 20 ppl que to each till, they try to convince others to go to self checkout? I was shopping here since 5 years but now I am thinking to change shop. Disappointing

Absolutely appalling behaviour from a woman on the customer service desk. Don't buy from here if there is any doubt about having to return an item. I tried to get a refund on a clearance bra that had been bought for my mum who had just undergone a mastectomy operation and was struggling to find one that was comfortable. I was told that they don't do refunds on clearance items which is absolute nonsense and contravenes their own returns policy. I argued and the woman rolled her eyes and was incredibly rude. In the circumstances this is absolutely disgusting, I've never come across such rudeness from a big retailer before. I will never shop with Asda again and I would advise anyone to think twice about buying any clothing or anything that might need returning. Beware! One utterly disgusted customer!

First and last time i use there delivery service!booked out a "express" slot between 1pm and 2pm, only for them to cancel at 1.59pm due to bad weather or traffic. Only live ten minutes up the road and theres neither bad traffic or weather ??Just excuses for a poor service.

Why would anybody shop at this store.Prices are generally higher than most of there rivals and so many of the shelves are lacking the right prices. It is so prevalent in this store I'm wondering if it is a deliberate act to trick people into paying more for items than they think. The 'scan and go' procedure is beyond stupid. Tap the screen put your phone number into the screen ??? That connects you to their app you may think...wrong. After you finish shopping you then have to fish around with your mobile and find the barcode that is on the app and scan that to get any special offers available.Don't think if you get it wrong you can contact them and get the special offers ....they won't entertain the idea even if you can prove you have the receipt and app, I know I tried spent ages on the phone only to get through to an unhelpful( but polite) agent, who claimed, and I quote" the scan and go is nothing to do with Asda" and "if the other shops suit you better ,you should use them" I ended up paying £10.00 more on a £50 bill because of this so will be voting with my feet.Sainsbury's,Tesco, M and S etc all have Apps that are much simpler to use so I will be steering well clear of Asda

Visited yesterday morning and went to checkout with full trolley, only ONE checkout was open! ONE checkout in a store as big as this? It was also quite busy - there were 16 people queuing. I was going to abandon my trolley and leave but decided to try the self checkout. It seemed like loads of staff there but none on the tills?. There was also a queue for the trolley self check out which is really slow. You have to take each item out of the trolley, scan it and put it on the shelf. Then you pay and have to pack each item back in the trolley. Loads of people were waiting for staff to help them/ approve alcohol / clear messages etc. I will use this store for 1 or 2 items in the future but never again for a full shop with trolley.

Having moved to Stevenage from North London, whereby I use to shop at Asda Southgate, I feel obligated to share my experience in the Stevenage store. Today was the final straw. The security guard once again decided to randomly activated his security system to not allow us to push our trolley out of the store. Me and my partner have lost count how many times this has now happened. We shop in the store a few times a week, we are ?regulars? yet we are made to feel like criminals. Never once were we stopped in our old store. This isn?t to be confused with the security alarm going off, this did not happen. We are sick and tired of being victimised by the security guard who looks so high on drugs it?s quite incredible he?s sat in a position of security, just because he randomly doesn?t like the look of us. Do better Asda or we will go elsewhere.

Great selection of foods/services, customer service was really good. Only thing is, like most supermarkets nowadays, self scan is great when it's available, but when you get to paying, waiting for an associate takes FOREVER! One person manning 12 tills or whatever is terrible.. not just for the customers, but the poor staff members having to juggle so many tills. Perfect example of corporate greed.

Able to buy some of my shopping there is a cafe if you want to buy something to eat and drink. There is also a decathlon shop inside asda itself, not a bad shop.

Don't use the self check out machines as when you put coins into it doesn't register I lost 2 pounds the other week

Impossible to apply for work in this stupid place, they are constantly crying how they are short staff but than hide the application process behind rubbish online assessment tests that are too cryptic to understand. So they would rather hire people that google the answers than those who have actual retail experience get the job. No wonder you see them posting adverts every week its an immediate red flag. Why should an employee do HR managers work anyway?

I am a previous employee of Asda Stevenage. I applied for a new work in NHS and needed an employment reference from them, been calling them for 3 weeks now, but every time I tried to call them, it?s either no one is answering, or someone will answer but will immediately drop my call. If only I live locally I will definitely visit the store my self, but I live 4hrs away from Stevenage now. All the staff, especially the office or who ever is assigned in taking the calls are not helpful!! I put my dedication in working in this company and I only need a reference but they can not give it to me! Such a dissapointment!
