The male changing room was disgusting, the smell of urine as you walk in, I needed a wee so went to use the only cubicle, NOPE!!, piss all over the floor, had to carefully use the urinal which absolutely stank of urine, pubic hair on both of them, both discoloured to the extent I don't think the flushing mechanism is working. The floors were covered in grime/hair. There was a used dirty towel on the floor when we arrived and it was still there when we left so the "checks" sheet on the wall as you walk in is clearly just for show. No wet bags in the dispenser. This isn't the first time I've arrived and seen the cubicle covered in urine but to have the rest of the changing room in such a state, I felt dirty being in there, and extremely uncomfortable walking barefoot.

Still affected by a terrible experience here in Dec 23 and Sept 24. I was offered a massage at a spa elsewhere by a friend and I declined based on the treatment I had at the Club. I cried after my experience at the club - I felt worse despite an attempt to treat myself. Don't waste your money here unless you don't mind being spoken to with contempt and think a massage is being rubbed lightly in sunflower oil by a distracted therapist. The whole of my outer left side, my neck and shoulders were totally ignored. I was not asked where I needed the massage most. Skilled therapists can usually determine this just by feeling your back. And I wasn't asked if I wanted oil on my head - usually an option but as it was, I just had oil applied through my hair with no pressure applied. The room was dirty. There was a skipping CD with panpipe music and the table creaked. There was no pillow to fit to your face when you lie face-down - so the hole cut into your face and was very uncomfortable agter about 15 mins. I attempted to offer feedback after but the therapist was immediately defensive: she stepped back, shook her head and said sarcastically, "ohh Im Sorry"...no offer to make good and as I said I was already tearful so didn't pursue this. Just said, thank you and left vowing never to go there again. But I wouldn't want anyone to have the same experience I did, hence the review now. I've given 2 stars because I enjoyed the gym and because it was my silly decision to return after another awful experience in the previous December. At that point, the reception team were also rude and refused to treat my husband for reasons that were not entirely his fault. There is no sense of accountability and customer service here. Money down the drain. I don't know how they get away with it.

First time at The Spa at Chilworth Manor Southampton Hampshire. Full use of Leisure Facilities plus the treatment done by Massage Therapist in the PM / afternoon of Monday 19 February 2024 was very good.

Pool clean but water is cold. Sauna OK but grubby. Spa pool not very clean. Changing room lockers OK, changing rooms grubby, shower controls terrible. The whole place needs a deep clean. Just paid up for 3 months so a bit disappointed.

Nice grounds and hotel. Ideal location close to Southampton. Room was clean and ideal. We had a disabled room which was helpful for us. Wonderful breakfast. Would visit again. The staff were very helpful, from reception to the bar, and breakfast team looked after you very well.

Grand old statley house, clean, friendly and professional. Menu limited but of good quality. Ideal if you're staying before a cruise. 20 mins from port, about £25 taxi Rooms clean and usable However you are a bit captive due to location, nothing on the doorstep

We booked up to stay here Friday Night 10 November. We were sent thorough details in advance offering us a chance to upgrade from our standard double to an executive double room. We decided we would do that as it was only another £20. We found the place very easily and parking was not a problem. The place is very impressive and obviously used for weddings, corporate events etc. Check in was really fast and efficient with a lovely friendly lady who made us feel right at home gave us keys for room 4. We went straight to our room and as it was getting dark we just dropped off our bags as we wanted to have a look at what we could outside around the grounds. The rear gardens are very impressive from what we could see. We strolled around taking in the views etc. Once dark we went inside and stayed for nearly two hours in the galleried bar/dining area and had prime seats right in front of the fire place. We ordered up drinks and food at the bar which were all very reasonably priced. My wife had the Cheese sandwich and I had the Prawn with a portion of shared fries. We had a lovely pleasant evening and then went to our room to settle in for the night. Our room was incredibly spacious but we found one negative which did put us off. In the bathroom/shower room the window was not frosted and had no blinds or curtains you could close. We both liked to have a shower but I found when I was standing in the bath under the shower the upper part of my body was level with the window and the buildings next to us which had lights on could overlook in. I both felt uncomfortable using the shower so we basically just gave up with that idea. I have never been in a bathroom that has No Blind or Curtain or Obscure Glass fitted. The hotel do supply you with so much in your bedroom, safe, ironing-board, iron, hairdryer, dressing gowns, coffee, tea, milk, sugar and percolated coffee pots etc. The only thing missing is a small bottle of water each but we went down to the bar and got some water from them. We both slept really well and in the morning went down and had a terrific hot buffet breakfast. The staff again were just superb and they should be complimented for their customer service skills. Check out was easy and efficient again.

We had a fantastic 1 night stay at this gorgeous hotel. The value for money was incredible, £81 for bed and breakfast (flash sale) the breakfast was particularly good, and plentiful, the buffet was constantly replenished and the food was freshly cooked, it really stood out as a high quality breakfast. Make sure you remember to request vegan/vegetarian options when you book in. The waiting and reception staff were also extremely professional and friendly. And last but not least, the grounds were stunning, our dog loved his walk in the woods and gardens, everything is so accessible and well-kept. We can?t wait to come back, thank you Chilworth Manor!

Stayed over for work a few times. The hotel should consider looking into their parking situation, as there isn't enough spaces for all their guests so rely on parking on the grass outside. Other than this, hotel was clean and staff were friendly. I would stay again.

We stayed here as we had 2 days in Paultons park and it is only a 20 minute drive it was very nice and the staff very helpful and friendly. The room was a comfortable size but the bed not so comfortable. Breakfast was included and very varied.

Ideal for cruises if you are departing from Southampton, as they also offer packages to include parking for up to 14 nights. Recognition for Reward Loyalty status. Friendly staff. Rooms are tired and in need of some attention. In a nice setting. Pool and gym, but not particularly clean. Breakfast seems low quality. All in all, a reasonable price for a reasonable stay.

As other reviewers have said, this hotel could be so good, but falls short in some areas. It is an imposing building set in impressive grounds just a few minutes from Southampton. It does some things very well, but lets itself down by a lack of detailed management. Reception was professional and welcoming, but I noticed that the wrong address and phone number had been entered on my registration card. When I pointed out the error, the receptionist altered the details on the computer system but refused to print a new card, asking me to sign a card with someone else's details. This did not sit happily with me. The room was a standard size and layout. The bed was comfortable, and the room had adequate seating and storage. The en-suite bathroom was adequate but not 100% clean. Some corners needed further attention, and there was unsightly limescale in the toilet. The own-label Prosecco, which was included in the deal, was well-chilled and very pleasant. However, as the bottle and 2 glasses had been placed in an ice bucket to chill, it would have been helpful to supply a small towel to aid serving the wine. The ice bucket, bottle and glasses were never removed by the housekeeping staff, and were still there when we checked out 2 days later. Dinner was included in the deal - the choices were limited and several were subject to surcharges. My wife had the soup and trout (£7 surcharge) which she enjoyed, and I had the mozzarella sticks followed by the belly pork (no surcharge) before we enjoyed our desserts. The food was attractively presented and tasty. I had ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio, but was eventually told that the hotel had run out, so opted for the slightly cheaper Sauvignon Blanc. When I checked the bill, not only had I been charged for the more expensive wine, but I had also been charged for my starter which was supposed to have been included. The waiting staff seemed puzzled when I requested that these charges were removed. At about 1.30 am, I was awoken by the sound of a waterfall outside our ground-floor bedroom window, and did not get back to sleep again. On inspection in daylight, a down pipe was missing, leaving a gaping hole in the gutter two floors above us, and the heavy rain was funnelled into a stream of water directly outside our window. I complained to the receptionist who assured me that the maintenance team was on duty and would attend to the problem during the day. Breakfast was good - plenty of choice and the hot food was kept hot without spoiling. The members of staff were mostly friendly, helpful and attentive. We returned to the hotel late that night having been to the theatre and decided to have a drink at the bar prior to retiring. When my wife ordered a G&T, she was asked if Gordons was ok. She said that would be fine and was then told that they didn't have any Gordons, so why offer it? When I asked for a Scotch and dry ginger, I was asked which Scotch I would like so I suggested Bells, Teachers, Famous Grouse etc. The barmaid looked at me blankly, and then suggested a succession of malt whiskies to me. I tried to explain the difference between malt whiskies and blends (to a barmaid!), and she then told me they didn't have any blended whiskies or any ginger ale. She ended by offering a Jamesons with ginger beer, so I had a pint of cider!! We went to our room, and the heavy rain indicated that nothing had been done to repair the gutter, but we were too tired to start moving rooms at that time, so earplugs had to suffice. I mentioned the gutter problem again to the (different) receptionist as we checked out, but she did not even make a note to do anything about it, so we left without any inclination to return.
