The food on the Xmas menu is one of the best I've had in my life. The dessert was to die for. Probably ranks as one of the best pub restaurant experiences for me. Although, I went here in 2016!

What a beautiful local cosy pub. Great warm fire, dogs welcome, kind staff, and delicious food. We thoroughly recommend the pies when they are on the specials menu! If you have a dog also, they do a great little dog food menu as well.

January 20th 2024 booked for my wife?s Birthday for 9 people at 7.30pm had to change numbers a couple of times but they were very obliging about it. The Plough is a very character full rustic old pub with a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. Imogen the Landlady was very helpful as we had a large round table in a cosy corner. The food was very good all parties were happy with what they had, the service was excellent although the food did take a little longer to arrive than we expected but was worth the wait. The evening was rounded of with a live small jazz band that played till about 9.30 ish. I wasn?t aware that there was a discretionary service charge but as my wife pointed out after it was written on the menu (my man eyes). Overall an excellent evening was had by all.

We were staying in the area on our honeymoon, and this was the closest pub to our lodgings. It's an absolute hidden gem! We were made very welcome by the landlady who even bought us both a drink to celebrate our wedding! The food was pricey (like most things these days!), but most definitely worth every penny! We left with full bellys and fully satisfied! Our only regret was not returning on our last night. We tried another pub of which was more expensive and no were near as good or welcoming. This is the place to go!We are very much looking forward to returning on our 1st anniversary!

We popped in for very tasty sandwiches from the lunch menu. The pub is very traditional with interesting decor and a wonderful wood fire smell. It?s very dark, but cozy with a pleasant atmosphere, just right on a winters day when going for a walk.

Our first visit to the plough in 8 years after living overseas. Fair to say this pub isn't what it used to be!! Under the previous ownership you got restaurant standard amazing food. Now it's another freezer to fryer pub like too many others in the UK. Friendly staff but the food just not good enough, salad leaves were not fresh and just dumped on the plate with no dressing. My partner paid 16 quid for what was mainly a bag of rocket. It's a shame as the pub used to be fantastic, might pop in for a beer when cycling through but I won't be having food here again.

We recently used the Plough for a large event: venue, catering, additional facilities (AV, outside space, etc). Imogen and the entire team could not have been more helpful, more welcoming, or more completely professional. The communication and planning beforehand was easy and very flexible, and the organisation on the day was seamless. It was fabulous!

Terrible disappointment! For many years this was the go-to destination for lunch near Winchester. It was a foodie type pub, always busy and had a big and interesting menu written on chalkboards. Had a great atmosphere, varied beers, and place to take visiting friends or to go for family get-togethers. Never fine dining but always a good reliable place to go. Took daughter, kids, dog for impromptu birthday lunch today; 3 adults 2 kids.. First clue that it had changed was the car park was almost empty at 12.30 on Saturday. Over the 20 years we were regulars it was always full every lunchtime by 12.30. One had to book. It was great for kids in the summer as adults could eat outside in scenic surroundings and kids use the good play area. Second clue was the absence of the two massive chalkboards. Turns out that there is now a small menu of bog standard pub food which turns out to be poorly executed. The chips seemed crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, but no-one could finish them in the end; they were weird and seemed to be twice cooked from a freezer pack. The batter on the fish was like deep-fried cardboard. Too solid and stodgy. We all fished out the fish!! The burger was OK however. There are other pubs in the area doing bog-standard pub food where at least the fish and chips are reliable. Good points (the food deserved 1 star but upped it to 2 due to these): The staff are pleasant and the service good. But they were hardly rushed off their feet!! They are certainly very dog-friendly with a doggy menu which our hound did not try, but she did get a couple of treats from the waitress which was a nice touch. The kids play area is still good, the pub itself is lovely, and the location would still be good in the summer to eat outside. However, if you have been there in the past and loved it, I wouldn't bother to return as the food is a shadow of what it was and all is utterly changed. Sadly we won't be going back.
