Lovely quiet clean room, comfortable bed, we slept well. Reception staff at the hotel brilliant- efficient and friendly. Unfortunately breakfast was disappointing loads of items missing from the cooked menu option. Stack of clean plates I had to move four dirty plates before I found a clean one. Nothing topped up. Croissants rubbery. Butter left in ice taken out of packets. The whole breakfast area extremely dirty. No service with a smile. The breakfast manager just stands at the front does not top up anything she has only shown herself to be extremely lazy.

Perfect weekend away. Great staff, very friendly night staff with welcoming attitudes. Rooms are very clean with everything you need. Pub attached was closed for a day/night, but that was due to unforseen circumstances. Would definitely return. The location is perfect for walking around to the market square, breweries and museums.Rooms: Very clean with everything we need at hand. A bit noisy at times but nothing too concerns us too much.Walkability: Some step areas but very nice to walk around the local area.

Booked this before reading the reviews and was a bit apprehensive. Thankfully our experience was a positive one. I booked two family rooms as it was me and four of my children, including my 18-year-old son. I think the family rooms are more recently refurbished, and they are in a separate building across from the main building with reception. The built in heating in one of the rooms wasn't working and a plug in heater was provided, but it wasn't needed as it was a reasonable 18°c in the room anyway. The bathrooms and bedding were very clean, though the showers could do with new sealant and new runners on the shower door as they are a bit worn, and the beds very comfortable with obviously new or new-ish mattresses. The staff including the man on reception were extremely helpful and friendly. The side was let down a little by breakfast, this Premier Inn has a different, presumably older menu than others and as a result does not have the vegan/vegetarian 'bacon' and only has Quorn sausages which I cannot eat, not the garden gourmet catering ones as elsewhere which would have been great. In addition they just had fewer vegan options in the buffet (on their menu some items were only labelled as vegetarian when they are labelled as vegan on the menu on the premier inn website), and even some basic items like soya milk for cereal and hot drinks, and the sunflower spread were not available at all. My children who could have the vegetarian items ate well but I was limited to toast with jam or marmalade. Finally, the plane noise, I am used to it as I grew up in Stockport and lived there for 20 years, but if you're not it may be a problem for you.

Down to two stars because of the poor breakfasts, way below what we expect from Premier Inn. Otherwise as you'd expect other than a grubby wall in the bathroom - quickly cleaned by helpful gent in reception.

ThisRooms: Our room was fairly standard Premier Inn type with beds for a small family group and and ensure shower room/toilet. It was a good size, and looked out over the town. On this particular occasion it was very cold as the radiator was not working. The staff member we reported this to offered us a choice of moving elsewhere or borrowing the little radiator from the office. We chose the latter and shortly felt much warmer.Food & drinks: There is a tray with supplies for making tea and coffee in the bedroom. Breakfasts and meals are available from the attached branch of the Hungry Horse chain.Noteworthy details: It is quite easy at night to miss the turning into the hotel area.Parking is available in the large, attached Pay and Display car park. Hotel guests can obtain a voucher for overnight parking from reception. The hotel and location are both fairly quiet, but if you are a light sleeper, be aware that one of the Manchester airport flight paths is pretty much overhead.
