Coach is highly qualified being the former British freestyle karate champion and a British PKB coach having trained in Muay Thai, Eskrima, Kung-fu, Kickboxing, Krav maga and Freestyle Karate and is currently a 5th Dan black belt. In 2004 he was asked by Grandmaster Curtis Page to manage the British light contact Karate team.this helped me gain confidence and is currently my fav hobby and one day I'll be a WKF gold medalist and it all stems from here.

As others have said it is way too expensive. Too many "one off" payments "to join", "to move to the master program", direct debit contracts etc. The fact that you have to buy overpriced equipment only from them is simply ridiculous. But the worst thing is my teenage son wanted to do muay thai and I didn't like the fact that when asked if they were a muay thai gym they said yes only to find out later (obviously after we paid the £300 one off payment) that they are an Mma gym that does some muay thai as part of their program. On the plus side, they actually teach you something. After three months of training with them, my son decided to leave and after an assessment he has been admitted straight to an adult program at a proper muay Thai gym. After all, although overly expensive, the time he spent at black belt academy wasn't a total waste.

My boy has been a member for nearly 4 years. This has helped his confidence massively. His progress has been recognised by all, thanks to his Sensei 'Master Edwards'. Great family environment. Highly recommend.

This place advertised that they specifically specialise in children with adhd amongst other things. This is false advertising!! My 4 year old son went to a taster class and was literally left crying himself to sleep that night. He tried his very best an after being asked to leave after 10 minutes for just being himself was heartbreaking. Steer clear5y

Dont waste your time with this place. Its isnt an academy its just an office space with floor matts. Its more of a money making structure, they make money off you before you have even started attending classes by making you buy their equipment (they would argue that this is so that people dont attend with cheap brands of gloves etc, but they wont even let you buy the EXACT same gear (cimac) elsewhere just so that you give them your money.Everybody gets the exact same sales pitch of pretty much being tied into a contract before attending. Again - theyve made a load of money off you before youve even started. They tried to charge me £14 for a printed fruit of the loom t shirt ?Once you've been there a very short while they then give you another sales pitch of progressing you onto a ?masters programme?. This is nothing special and based more on the fact they can get more money out of you if you seem committed. After attending where i go now heres my Conclusion - go to a proper boxing gym. This is more of a place for people who want to learn but are too scared or vulnerable to go anywhere else.People here are progressed WAY too easily. The ?MASTERS? students here would get their ar$es handed to them by average students at the place i attend now.

Warning do not pre-pay for classes. I paid nearly £300 and got injured a couple of weeks in, had to go to hospital. I rang them up and they said they'd pause my membership until I was fit again. When the time came I went back to continue and they said it had expired and I would have to pay the money again. When I came in to speak to them about it someone was hoovering the floor, I raised my voice to be heard over the noise and the receptionist said I was acting aggressively and shouting (!?). I couldn't get anywhere with them after that, it seemed like a tactic they were using to keep the money. Obviously I have not been back since and now train elsewhere. Be warned!

My son has been attending classes at Didsbury BBA for 9 to 10 months and I can honestly say that he finds them extremely enjoyable. When he consistently requested to join a martial arts club for couple years prior to DBBA I was a bit sceptical that he would want to persist with it but he has shown a real dedication to developing his skills, knowledge and competitiveness.Wayne and the team definitely know their stuff and maintain a high level of intensity and professionalism throughout the sessions with the kids. My son looks forward to each grading every few months to attain the next belt up and he definitely wants to progress as far as he can for many years to come.

Think before to take you kids to this place, this place scammed so many people with doing sia courses and never give the licence to get the dia badge! How can you teach discipline and respect to kids when you aren't a honest person !

I have been taking my son for the past six years and he has progressed from junior classes to the adult and teen masters class. It?s an absolute fantastic place to train and the atmosphere is delightful, it?s a very challenging workout to improve stamina and body fitness. If I had to say myself karate is all about discipline and confidence. Didsbury black belt academy offers a variety of different martial art styles such as light Contact , semi contact and much more. Definitely recommend this place if anyone is trying to get into to karate.

My 8 year old son has been attending Didsbury Black Belt Academy for a number of years, he started in dragon classes and progressed into masters junior classes which he attends twice a week. It?s been great to watch his confidence grow and to develop life long skills. The training is excellent, the classes are varied and cover a wide range of skills from confidence, discipline and self defence. My son enjoys achieving new belts, they have regular grading sessions along with feedback. I?m impressed with my sons overall fitness levels and this has had a very positive impact on other sports. The classes are welcoming and so are all the staff at the academy. They offer children a whole range of skills with various class times. Highly recommend Didsbury Black Belt accademy to other parents.

Both my son and I love training here, him in the Junior Class and myself in the Adult Class. It's a very friendly atmosphere here, lots of fun and an extremely good and challenging workout. I've done several martial arts class and can say the standard of teaching here is exceptional. We both feel way more energetic, fitter and more confident.
