So this was our first visit where me my husband and 9 year old son was greeted by a quite rude waitress with a sarcastic manor when my husband asked if there were any tables then she asked what our next question was! We had a small dog with us which she said she could seat us to one of her friends saying she was allergic to dogs so we were basically told no to being seated, very disappointing won?t be going back

I was looking for somewhere to meet up with my children over the festive period. After a short search on Tripadvisor I found the Corner Cupboard. I was the first to arrive and was greeted warmly by the staff. I said a small group of us would be eating and they moved tables to accommodate us. A fine selection of real ales and a well stocked bar. When my children and partners arrived we settled down to great choices on the menu. We were not rushed to choose and soaked in the atmosphere of the place. We had the Liver and Bacon, a ploughman?s, lasagne, fish and chips and ham egg and chips. All well presented and tasty. No complaints! A couple of us went for the dessert menu and were not disappointed by the sticky toffee pudding, a generous portion of light sponge with loads of custard. A good value meal, good drinks choice, lovely attentive staff makes this a definite go to place for anyone looking to eat or drink whilst in the area. I?m looking forward to returning one day.

Popped in for an evening drink with my two sons, having been at the Christmas market(?) in the town. The olde worlde exterior with its (currently) Christmas trees drew us in. It's similarly charming inside, with friendly locals and helpful staff. There's a great selection of beer too, with a nice pint of London Pride, but also more contemporary stuff such as Neck Oil and Peroni. Archetypal English pub; if that's what you like, visit.

Great wee pub with fantastic Tudor atmosphere. Service was so friendly and lovely. The dishes came with lovely crusty bread, the soup was creamy and the ale stew medieval and rich!

Nice quaint little restaurant. Good value and also good kids menu available which was not shown on website (£4.50 main £3 pudding) plus some smaller light bite options for older kids.

We?ve eaten here before and always had a good experience. With this in mind we wanted to have a lunchtime meal here with friends after a planned walk. When trying out the walk last Monday we called in at The Corner Cupboard for a quick drink only to be told that it was closed due to a private function (a funeral wake) and that it didn?t usually open on Monday anyway, despite being advertised on their website as being open from 10.00 until midnight Monday to Saturday. With that in mind I called the pub and booked a table for today (Thursday) at 1.15. Apparently 1.00 wasn?t available. We turned up ten minutes early and ordered drinks from the bar. When the polite waitress came to see us she said that there would be quite a wait for food because three tables were still to order. Unfortunately they?d had three or four ?walk-ins? but they would be able to feed us. I?m at a loss to see the point of booking tables if they are going to give preference to customers who just walk in off the street. Your contact number is requested on booking I assume so they can contact you if you are late or don?t turn up. Anyway we drank up, left and sadly doubt we shall ever return. On the positive side the beer was well kept and very tasty.
