Lovely pub with a nice garden especially for younger children. However, extremely disappointed with my Trio roast costing £18. Food came out as if it had been under a hot plate for a while, lamb and beef were fatty so once cut away not a huge amount left to eat and the roast potatoes were disintegrated inside and impossible to cut as if they had been reheated hours after the initial cook. For the price you?d expect fresher and a general better standard of food. Did not bother to complain as it looked like everyone?s meal around us was the same standard and did not have time to wait with young children. The service and atmosphere as always was great though. Hoping this was a one off as I do like to visit this pub on a Sunday especially in the warmer months.

Not what it used to be, two bar staff on duty who were both eating behind the bar, not very hygienic. Beer prices are over the top, it?s not a central Bristol pub, no wonder most of the village drinks at The Lamb where the beer prices are actually lover than I was expecting.

Great pub, lovely food and the layout is perfect. You don't feel you're on top of other people and had a good amount of space between tables. The goats cheese tart was amazing!

This review summarizes the views and opinions of our party of five who ate Sunday lunch at The White Hart on 17 December 2023. Four of us are regular walkers, so we?ve visited a fair number of country pubs and sampled many good, average, and poor meals and beers over countless walks. On this occasion, we weren?t on a walk but booked a table at The White Hart for Sunday Lunch. Usually, we only stop for a beer during our walks in and around Iron Acton, so this was the first time we?ve eaten there. In short, wow! The Sunday lunch was a real treat with a unanimous group verdict: great quality and a generous portion representing excellent value for money at £13.95. All of us were highly impressed. The menu lists their beef as medium rare, but all members of our party prefer beef cooked closer to well done. We asked if they could accommodate that, and yes, no problem?they did, and the meat was in generous quantity and very tasty. The vegetables were also perfectly cooked: slightly crisp with lots of flavour, not overcooked mush, which so often masquerades as vegetables. Oh, and the (huge!) Yorkshire puddings were clearly homemade and delicious! Turning to the beer... The Cask Marque accreditation attached to the pumps caught our attention, so we tried their Butcombe, a firm favourite among some in our group. Oh my, we were not disappointed?one of the best pints of Butcombe I?ve ever had (and yes, that is quite a few...). A massive round of applause to whoever manages their cellar; they really know how to keep cask ale and do a great job! On top of this, the service was excellent, both at the bar and the staff who waited at the table. In conclusion, we absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend Sunday lunch at The White Hart?there?s no doubt we will eat there again.

A 45-minute walk from where we live in Coalpit Heath, but well worth the effort! Having said that, at this time of year, we tend to drive (5-10 mins). Friendly staff, good food, what more could you want?

We have recently just rediscovered this pub and really like it. However, today we popped in for a few games of pool and were having a lovely time until a group of older people in the corner started using racist slurs so the rest of the pub could hear. I confronted them and was told they were ?just being honest? and then they tried to back track and said they had been talking about their dog (the racist slur rhymes with dog, so this was VERY clever of them). Unfortunately for them I had heard them loud and clear, and they had also repeatedly referred to someone as a black b******. My complaint is that there was no management present and this behaviour was allowed to go unchecked - I don?t want to drink in a pub that openly allows this kind of behaviour. My children are dual heritage and I was personally very upset by the comments. Sad, as we were really starting to enjoy going here.

Bizarre experience last night after many nice meals in the past with great service. Everything was too much trouble for the 2 grumpy ladies behind the bar. No smiles. Lots of sighing and huffing it felt like we were inconveniencing them by being there. Food was nice but the staff on last night need to work on their hospitality skills. My grans 91st meal so a shame really but we managed to make light of it and enjoy ourselves. Disappointing and may not return. especially as they are thinking of charging 20 quid to bring your own birthday cake? I mean do you want people coming to your quiet country pub on a weeknight and spending hundreds of pounds or not?!

We were recommended this pub by our Air b&b host . Great recommendation. Very quiet little pub which we aren't used to but very nice and welcoming. Staff very friendly and service was spot on. We had the scotch egg which was lovely and warm with a soft middle, huge portion for a starter ! The lamb was so lovely and tender , nice size portion was very suprised ! My partner enjoyed his goats cheese tart .. Had no room for dessert. Thank you for a lovely meal!

Nice food. Lovely little cozy spots dotted around the pub. Can't wait for the fire and a cold winter night drink there!
