A very cosy and pleasant pub hidden away with friendly staff and locals. The food was very tasty and good value considering the quality, thanks and see you again someday!

This is a food review. We have been several times before. Had a great Sunday lunch previously. This time we went for an evening meal. 5 of us. Mid-week. Not especially busy. Starters were very good.Mains were dreadful. Burgers too greasy. Pork chop chewy and almost inedible - had to leave most of it. Steak was average.Such a pity after a promising start. It could be so much better.

Our meal was excellent, The pork was delicious and cooked to perfection. The beef was wonderful and tender. The mushroom pie looked delicious. But to have a Yorkshire pudding on the same plate was a bit much for our 93 year old guest. The staff were wonderful . Great Mothers Day Lunch.

Food & drinks: Great for a quick dog walk in the woods before then nestle in for great quality food, beers on tap, and service. Nice veggie options. Will be back!

What a great place to have just a stones throw from Painswick. Well worth booking a table if you?re visiting the area or if you?re a local for that matter! The new refurbishment has really given this lovely pub a new lease of life.. it welcomes both drinkers and diners. And what a welcome, the staff are amazing - super on it and attentive. The steak was perfection, the bar snacks delish? I will most certainly be returning and can?t wait to enjoy the garden in the summer with friends. Blown away!

The new owner has transformed the pub. It?s so beautiful. The pub section is welcoming and cosy. Great beer selection. Definitely a drinkers pub as well as a fantastic restaurant. The food in the restaurant section is sensational (the cod was the best I?ve ever had and my friends have said the same about the steak and the burger) With brilliant service to boot.Welcome back Fostons Ash. Better than ever.

Absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. Under new management, with a brilliant team who are smashing it. One of the most delicious steaks I?ve had, cooked to perfection, as were the other dishes ordered by our group - including the croquettes, pumpkin tart, Gloucestershire fried pheasant and cod. Really lovely, warm and vibrant atmosphere, excellent beer and wine. Walks a plenty all around and a characterful candlelit, fireside vibe inside. A really special place. Thank you!

Went in with some friends who live locally, it has only reopenned after a long time being rennovated in the last 3 weeks. With new owner Will who is the main chef (always a bonus). We tried to walk in to get food but they had already established head count so missed out on this although had bar snacks which were delicious. So would recommend booking in advance.Chris in front of house was a really nice guy and a good guy to have a laugh with. Beth was also supporting to which both of them made us feel very welcomed and looked after. The atmosphere was very friendly with the recent reonnovations it is looking very smart and I really like that you can see right into the kitchen from the car park as you walking through the entrance. Not that we had food, but Will who was originally working in London seems to have from what we can see and smelt brought a really nice level of food from the city to countryside. It certainly has some boujeeness to it and looks to have some of that "wow factor". I would certainly say that is worth the journey and dipping your head in. I wish them all the best with getting this off the ground they certainly have a solid foundation to do so.Look forward to having the chance to come back again!

Arrived hoping to get an evening meal late as we were travelling back home and they were very accommodating for food even though the kitchen was close to closing. Recommend a starter which we loved and the main, which was a burger was just right. Thanks again to the staff.

Nice to see it back open and the fire in , Artwork on the walls is a bit charity shop locals seating area would have been a nice feature to keep. Garden area is better now the ghastly marquee has gone. Opening the bar area up does make it feel and flow better with more cover area. Haven?t tried the food yet.

Superb Sunday roast, one of the best I've had! Great service too. Only small bit of feedback was that the kids fish finger sandwich was quite 'fishy' and sour bread wasn't enjoyed by our 3yr old. Otherwise, can't fault it. Thanks! :)
