I took my 8 yr old daughter for her 2nd eye test today. I have only recently transferred over to Specsavers for eye testing for her & after out visit today I won't be taking her back. The male optician we had today was, not only abrupt but we both felt his urgency to catch up & move on to his next customer but he was also quite intimidating by saying to my daughter "you should be able to read that line" & then because he was trying to catch her out by the lenses he was swapping between (as he told me later on) he was pressuring my daughter & rushing her through.I'm not sure he is the right type of person to offer appointments to a youngster as now my daughter is concerned about going back to the opticians due to his interaction ... so thanks for that!!The 1 star I have given is for the people offering help & support before & after the eye test ... not impressed with our experience today at all!

I go to this opticians every two years.They have expanded the shop since I last visited.I was greeted and booked in quickly.There was a short wait before going in to the first testing room, where they photograph the back of the eyes and check for signs of diseases such as glaucoma.Another short wait before seeing the optician. Yet again my eyesight had changed "just slightly" and I would need new specs (every visit since I've used these opticians I have had to purchase new specs).Everything ran smoothly until it came to me choosing specs. Because of my prescription I was limited with designs. I wanted 2 separate pairs of glasses instead of varifocals. The design I chose didn't come in the outdoor finish I wanted. Then there seemed to be an issue with the ipad the assistant was using - it struggled to connect to the internet.I ended up leaving due to my parking ticket running out (my appointment took a LONG time) and phoned the store upon my return home to complete the order. Not ideal.Two weeks later I rang to find out whether my new specs were ready. There seemed to be the usual problem of the suppliers losing my order. This has happened at least 3 times in the past few years that I can remember. I suggest its time to change supplier if they continually lose regular customers orders.Just over a week later I had a phone call to say my order had arrived and I could pop in anytime to collect them.I put extra time on my car parking ticket this time because usually they try to sell extra products and spend time fitting the specs correctly. This did not happen this time. I told the assistant that one pair felt funny, he bent one of the arms slightly and cleaned the lenses with the cleaning cloth. This visit took less than 10 minutes.No advice was provided on when to use these two separate pairs of glasses other than "One is for long distance, like driving, the other for close up work." Some written guidance would have been useful.I put off wearing my new specs simply because I didn't feel safe walking around the house with the close up one on and daren't drive in the long distance ones because they still feel funny when I put them on. My eyes go blurry when swapping between the two.After yet another poor experience with this company I do not have confidence in the current optical assistants ability to provide suitable advice. I will not be using them again.

after over 2 weeks still waiting for the second pair of glasses, never been contacted and always have to go in to get an update. this first pair had to be remade. i was told they just needed coating and checking but when i went in they where not ready. Note i had to go in to find this out. they took 10 minutes to even find them.

Just had an eye test. Greeted immediately and attended to straight away. Optician Simon was really good and explained everything. He was very thorough and even noted my previous eye injuries. All in all I feel I had really good service.

Not worth wasting your time with this branch, lovely staff, however god forbid you need to wait, call or order contact lenses.More than 2 chairs would be nice and don't tell me my contacts will be 5 days when it will be more like 10 days.I'll be taking my prescription to another contact lense provider next time.

Called into my local branch in Saffron Walden where the staff are friendly, professional and sort any problem. Mussa kindly adjusted the arms of my current pair of glasses even though they are a couple of months old.

Marco (sorry, probably not spelt properly) in Saffron Walden gave my husband and I excellent service yesterday! He went out of his way to make sure that our new glasses were organised and ordered during a very busy time in the opticians. He made sure that he gave us the service that he felt we were entitled to - thank you so much!
