I needed a small shelf to hold the centre speaker of my home cinema setup, so I sent the specifications to Shelf Direct, and they made me a great custom sized shelf. It was easy to fit; there's a wooden bracket that screws to the wall, and then the body of the shelf fits over it. The speaker weighs about 25kg and it supports it easily.Thank you Rhoda for getting back to me quickly and answering all of my questions.

I was given Richard's number by my handyman, as I wanted someone to build a bespoke wooden bench as a disability aid for my shower.I understand they don't usually do benches, but nevertheless Richard did a great job and made a lovely bench. I provided the timber. Unfortunately though, it didn't meet the spec I gave him. I wanted a long bench with lengthways slats so that I could slide along it while in the shower (I don't have much strength in my legs).Unfortunately Richard saw that there was not quite enough timber to do that, so he made it with short widthways slats instead, instead of calling me and asking what I wanted to do.As I said it was a lovely bench, very nicely made, but it was unfit for purpose. If he'd let me know, I could have ordered a little bit more timber and we could've done it properly.I asked if he could fix it and he said not without significant cost (to me), for more timber and labour. I was pretty upset that he used my nice expensive timber and made something off spec and then refused to put it right without me buying more timber and paying him for his labour.I offered to buy a bit more timber, as I would've had to anyway, but wasn't happy to pay anymore as I felt he should've checked with me before wasting my timber on a bench that doesn't work.Ultimately had a lengthy argument with Rhoda the company director about who should pay, and she essentially told me in not so many words to get stuffed and find someone else to fix it.I tried to salvage the slats that were wasted, but could not as they were screwed and glued in place. This was a waste of an expensive lot of timber.Ultimately I had to pay another joiner £150 for labour and materials to fix their mistake. I was especially surprised by their attitude of "we did you a favour by making a bench, we're not fixing it, deal with it".Yes they made the bench quite cheaply for me in the first place, but that was cancelled out by them wasting the expensive material that I trusted them with.I ended up going to the furniture ombudsman because I could not get any satisfactory response from them. I did not want to have to write a bad review, but here we are.My bench was saved by Lui of Outboard Store who has been friendly and helpful and nothing but professional

Ordered 2 oak shelves after receiving very helpful advice from the team. They arrived when expected and were even nicer than I had imagined. They were very reasonably priced too!! Very happy and would buy again.

We ordered 3 maple shelves and 9 pelican brackets from Shelf Direct. We found the website helpful with good images of the products and the responses to our queries for clarification were wonderfully helpful and friendly. That included loaning and sending us a gadget to locate the studs in our partition wall following discussions about the maximum load the shelves could carry. The products are high quality and were very well wrapped for their journey. Exceptional goods and service.

WOW is the only word to describe every aspect of my experience with Shelfdirect!!! From the first response from Rhoda, her can-do attitude to my request, the excellent delivery process with THE best protective packaging I have ever seen ensuring my shelves arrived in perfect condition and lastly to the stunning product I received. Yes you can buy floating shelves from your local DIY store BUT these shelves are simply stunning, the workmanship is second to none. Do yourself a favour if you?re looking for floating shelves you will not find a better product or service anywhere else! Thank you Rhoda and please pass on my thanks to the team ?. We ordered three oak shelves for our kitchen to hold an array of spice jars. We were extremely impressed with both the quality of the wood and the workmanship of the shelves. When we explained what we wanted the shelving for, the kind people at Shelfdirect added the end stops, to ensure that the jars cannot slip off the end of the shelf. The shelves are extremely easy and quick to put up and very stable once up and look fabulous. We would highly recommend this company and would have no hesitation in using them again.
