I have always been a fan of this great gastro pub until Monday. I have known Maureen for the last decade. I even recommended the food menu to a retired police man on Monday. However, Maureen was so rude to me on Monday I will never visit again.I had taken my fifteen years bullterrier to the Camelford since 2014. Maureen told me a story about her son's bullterrier who was aggressive. My old bullterrier died last December. I adopted a younger dog from adopt a bullterrier rescue last month. Reggie.I took him to the Camelford on Monday. It was empty. Reggie jumped on a table. For a moment, Maureen asked me if I owned the dog. And to get him off the table, of course I did.Very disappointed she had no memory that I have been a frequent customer for the past ten years. And would not allow dogs on a table.I would not bring Reggie to this pub again. He was perfectly behaved after excitedly jumping on the table and charmed the only other customers in the pub. Except Maureen and the group around her.James and Reggie

BEWARE of Over-charging and Flat beer.We were charged £12.50 for a pint of Harveys draught bitter and half lager and lime (Heinekin). Upon questioning the price, the barman was both rude and stand-offish and was not prepared to admit his mistake. Furthermore, the beer was flat.We came into this pub, as we had done the day before, to enjoy a few drinks and to eat. However, by overcharging us by approx £3 we decided not to order our meals here valued at around £48 - their loss! We do not recommend. Time of visit: 5.30pm, 28 Feb 2024.

I could go back for their Sunday roasts every week, there is simply no competition! The beef rib is melt in the mouth and their cauliflower cheese is unbelievable. Make sure you book early!!

I'm so old that I can remember when a lot of things were called something else. Opal Fruits, marathons , dime bar, jif, loads of things that all had a name change.Remember how I'm old? My only reason for years to go up Camelford street would be at 2am after Legends closed, walking up to St James street for when the Bulldog used to be a 24hour weekend venue.Time, my age and changes to my drinking habits mean that these days I don't frequent liscenced premises after dark. Midweek lunchtimes tho, I'm all over that.I don't remember when The Camelford Arms became the Camelford Arms - it's previous incarnation wasn't a regular haunt of mine, but the power of a name change and a firm dedication to the food side of things is a success story unmatched by the previous incarnation or a majority of the current competition. The Camelford Arms is one of my top three Brighton food venues, and the position in that three is usually determined by my lunchtime dining companion.I used to love a pint in a cosy wooden floored pub with burly bears and lumberjack overtones, But todays Camelford Arms is it's own success story and the fact that you are welcome to take dogs in whilst anything human and under 18 is strictly verboten is just a personally pleasing cherry on the top.

Served by Emily, I have never met a sweeter, friendlier person behind the bar. Was only my boyfriend and I in the pub at the time but she made the trip to Brighton worth it with her wonderful presence behind the bar, can?t wait to visit here again!

Partner and I stopped here for Sunday lunch, having tried a few years ago thought we would go back. The roasts are Plentiful extremely tasty and worth every penny. Although was busy it didn?t impact the service which was excellent! Staff are a credit to the establishment this is by far the best roast in brighton!

What a great find this pub is. Really friendly, unpretentious pub. Excellent service and probably the best Sunday lunch I've ever had ! Will definitely be recommending and returning soon.

Set back from the front but well well worth looking out, my wife and I went for Sunday roast on NYE and had a lovely meal, had the lamb and my wife the vegetarian wellington, both came beautifully presented hot and well cooked, we were welcomed by all the staff as were our two Westie dogs, a great atmosphere and pleasant surroundings.

Literally the best burger I?ve had in a long while. It was pink and juicy and everything you need. We went there for a pub quiz and it was so much fun, actually came last (not intentionally) and got free shots. Such a cozy and family-feeling pub!!

I have been with my husband a number of times now and the staff are always very friendly and welcoming. The food is always amazing especially their home made pies.Tonight we had a dessert, which was a Chocolate Orange Torte with posh Vanilla ice cream and it was incredible.Would heartily recommend to anybody to visit.2023 Update - On this Brighton trip my husband and I have now been twice and the food is still amazing with massive portions. We had Rib Eye steaks on our first visit, and on our second I had a pie and my husband had a cheese and ham Ploughmans.

Came for lunch whilst on a new year's day walk along the sea front in Brighton. Stumbled across an absolute gem! The food was amazing! I had the chicken, leek and ham pie with mash, peas and gravy. Portions were big and every part of the meal was absolutely delicious. They have a big varied menu and all the food coming out looked incredible. I wish I lived closer so I could come more often! Really nice atmosphere, proper pub feel and staff were lovely.
