If I could give a zero rating I would .!! Customer service is shocking at beverley branch! Made an appointment here to do two things :1: my mum whom has banked with barclays for over 60yrs wanted to add my name to a savings account she had here apparently you need an appointment as desk cashier are unable to do this.2: I wanted to open a saving account of my own with some inheritance money. From the offset of this appointment the lady had zero interest and within 5 min had told us we were unable to do either things we wanted as apparently I did not pass security checks. I had online bank details , driving licence , works photo I'd card and lasting power of attorney documents for two different people with me but I still didn't pass she even found me on the barclays system with the same address as the power of attourney documents had on them from a bank account I had held with barclays some years ago but said she could still not pass me , however she did tell me that if I had been in receipt of any benefits I would have passed security straight away as those type of documents tell them everything they need to know , never felt so insulted in my life. I explained to her that I had phoned customer services at barclays beforehand to ask what documents I would have needed to open the account , she just replied to us oh they will tell you anything to get you off the phone don't ever take notice of them . Can fully understand why this branch is closing with attitude like that . Still waiting for phone call back to discuss this but won't hold my breath .Update **** Thank you for your SWIFT reply it's a very big shame your complaints department haven't acted as swiftly as you have , I think I should have elaborated further that I did infact have many of the documents you have listed in your reply with me, I just outlined the ones I had been told that were acceptable by your customer service team when I made the appointment. The top and bottom of it is she just couldn't be bothered . She is obviously not offay with how a power of attorney works as she kept saying I didn't need my name on my mother's saving account as Pot would give me instant access to any of my mums accounts , this is not the case as Lasting Pot only comes into force if the person concerned is unable to make their own decisions safely and wisely or passes away. And at present my mum can certainly make her own decisions, that is why she was present at this appointment . What's the point in me getting in touch with someone at complaints I have already done this x2 and am still waiting waiting waiting for their reply.

Came in today to withdraw some money and ask about a transaction which had been made, was consulted by a staff member called Hala I think her name was, she came across quite rude and patronising when she said about having the mobile app and using the machines instead, there was no Q so cannot understand why she was reluctant to help. Barclays has gone down hill over the last few years as needed help with my mortgage and had two wait nearly two months to get an appointment. will be moving my savings and mortgage across to Natwest who are much more friendly and easier to reach at time of need, not everybody is or wants to be Tech savvy.

Visited today 03/01/24 Absolutely astonished at how unhelpful and completely rude the one and only cashier was. I now understand by visiting online the branch is closing? If that is the only face to face service you can offer then I'm not surprised. I shall therefore be closing my account.I am rewarding one star as there was no ridiculous queue for a change and now in hindsight I am not surprised at that either!

I have used this branch maybe 5 or 6 times over the past year when I need a ' face to face ' service. Now it's being closed. I'll move my account to a bank that has a Beverley presence. I would hope others do the same. Some people can't use internet banking.

Ridiculously long wait times as only one staff member on the counter at any time

Now a so called internet branch laughable when you require foreign currency you have to ring Barclays 39 minutes so far waiting . The staff need either retraining they seem to take pleasure in being rude to older people who aren't internet savvy (witnessed today) felt sorry for the customer who was being barked at. Here's a suggestion either put more staff on . One star is to much unfortunately can't give zero. Now 50 + minutes waiting on the phone.

Visited Thursday mid morning. Was quiet in the bank and the service was excellent. Sufficient staff available, who were pleasant, friendly, and polite

Went into the bank as advised in the letter (in the photo) to be told they could not verify my ID and I needed an appointment! It does not mention needing an appointment anywhere in the letter.

I would give this bank 0 stars the customer service I received on 27th November 2021 was disgusting having to wait 15 minutes to be served was most frustrating when the staff in this bank are really unprofessional standing around talking to each other and one lady behind the counter was chatting to her friend. When I walked into this bank it wasn't busy but these cashiers didn't start doing their job until the queue was going out of the door. How can Barclays allow their staff to behave in this way I do not know. Don't mention names of the staff in this branch on social media or any other branch otherwise Barclays will take your account from you which is really bad. After my experience at this Branch I was only too pleased to move over to another bank. The staff didn't care at this branch that I'm disabled and to be ignored by the staff when the bank wasn't busy at all was absolutely terrible. The staff poor conduct in this branch gives Barclays a terrible reputation. Barclays are closing down branches so this branch will be on the list of closures in the near future as this branch is very quiet and more people bank online these days. The bank I have switched to is brilliant if you fit into the criteria you receive a reward either a case of wine or a experience day out what bank gives you free gifts. I chose the experience reward voucher which is brilliant. Thank you Barclays for getting rid of me I have found a better bank with nice clean soft furnishings in the Hull branch just around the corner from Hull Barclays it's worth doing a switch over and the staff at Virgin are lovely only too please to assist you. Upon writing this review I didn't see it at the time but those women in Beverley Barclays did me a favour making me change banks I got nothing out barclays but I have been with virgin money for less than 1 year and this bank has given me £200 in virgin experience gift card for free which is a lovely gift. I also get cashback which I never got with barclays and I get interest paid into my account which Barclays never gave me and a decent credit card with a really good credit limit where barclays credit limit was rubbish. So if you read this and you aren't happy with Barclays then switch over to Virgin Money a really good bank.
