We have just celebrated my Mother?s 80th birthday. The food, service & atmosphere were all amazing. There were 20 of us and we had an area all to ourselves. All the food was delicious and the staff were very attentive and helpful. Thank you for making our celebration a success.

The Old Thatch - Ferndown DorsetFIVE STAR - Everything2nd visit - Sat 13th Jan 2024This award winning pub is lovely, not too over the top. As you walk in the door there is an immediate relaxing feel to the place....atmoshere great (log fire burning). We were shown to our table and served by Bradley, who gave us a warm welcome. He was knowledgeable and helpful. It was lunchtime so we opted for the Trio of Venison Sausages and an old favourite of mine Ham, Egg & Chips....neither of which were a disappointment (pictures included) ! Quite the opposite, the meals were Fab !!The team were superb, Bradley was extremely helpful and gave great service (thank you).Id also add that due to the expert service and quality of food we reveived last time out from REI, we returned.Bradley was sure to advise that service was added to the bill before we paid (he asked if we were happy and if we were happy to leave it on the bill) a very nice touch and I was happy to pay it !!Well done and thanks.Julian & Amanda

Excellent service and food. Staff lovely. The only thing negative I would say is that it was very smoky from the open fire, we came away stinking of smoke. They just need to clear their

We were fortunate to book a table at The Old Thatch for new year's eve. We had come down from Norfolk for the occasion. I can not fault anything. The service of the staff was nothing but brilliant despite it being an extremely busy night for them. The chef and crew in the kitchen simply nailed it with military precision. All the starters, mains and desserts appeared like clockwork and all piping hot. The kitchen crew are to be commended on their incredibly hard work behind the scenes which is never rarely recognised. The starter of belly pork was sublime and the main course of perfectly served medium rare fillet steak was nothing but outstanding. The best fillet steak I have every had (and I don't say that lightly...!) The desserts were to die for as was the cheese board. I can not thank the bar staff, waitresses and kitchen chefs enough for ensuring we had a magical evening in your wonderful establishment. A perfect example of how well polished team work and communication works to the benefit of the paying customer. A huge thanks to everyone involved for making it a most rememberable new year's eve. We'll definitely be back....?

We had a superb meal, served by lovely friendly staff. The food was excellent, restaurant quality food. The staff were polite and very efficient, the food was served in a timely manner. At our request we delayed the dessert which did not disappoint. Lovely experience which we hope to repeat again soon.

Popped in for lunch, did not book a table but the staff found me a perfect spot for me and my dog. Georgia did a great job of serving us while we were there. Great food and atmosphere, highly recommended.

Thanks to John and the rest of the Old Thatch team who accommodated 18 of us for our ((BOUNCE)) Wimborne Christmas party! The food was delicious, huge portions and beautifully presented with just the right amount of time between courses. Also a band on so a great night all round!

This is an idyllic pub, that infuses a traditional feel with modern design for it's decoration. The food here was fantastic, I had a chicken and mushroom pie that was spot on! The vegetables that came with it were perfectly cooked and left me very impressed. Those dining with me also had the vegetarian.mushroom option which they enjoyed equally as much. We each had desert and drink. The deserts looked.and tasted great and they had a nice selection of local beers available. Our waitress was friendly, accommodating and attentive. I cannot fault our visit to this pub/restaurant and will certainly be returning.Dietary restrictions: One of our dinners was.allergic to garlic and the chef altered a recipe specifically to suit this.

I'd not been to the Old Thatch for many a year - quite a different pub these days! I went on a Saturday evening, and I'd describe it as a large family dining venue, with a small bar area (wasn't sure what to expect reading the website, and I couldn't see much detail on there about the "multi" awards won, so had to do a bit of a Google). We had two alcohol drinks, 1 vegan starter and two vegan mains - overall quite tasty, but for the prices charged we weren't blown away (we eat out vegan a lot and have had better elsewhere for less money, or make better at home ourselves). I'd imagine that recent glowing reviews largely reviewed the meat options, which looked fantastic on other tables, but not our bag! Staff were really friendly and overall mostly had good attention to detail. Given overall 3-stars to highlight a that a few small tweaks needed to make this lovely place and food that little bit better for the prices being charged :)

Fabulous anniversary meal last night. Chef is amazing, steak was cooked to perfection & the hazlenut martini was something special! Huge thanks to Taylor for making the evening even more enjoyable. We will definitely be back soon.

Having used the Old Thatch a few times previously and had exceptional meals there, our visit last week was moderately disappointing. Nothing really to complain about but the food was fairly bland and the portion size was barely adequate. There was no Merlot available at lunch time and no specials board.I realise the above are small points but compared to previous visits they were noticeable. The staff were friendly and efficient as usual. There is a huge amount of competition for lunch time dining so dropping the ball even in a small way can have undesirable results.

Great food but abit on the pricey side.Walked in and you get hit with the smell from the artisan bakery and the rustic vibes made it feel really homely!Great place to come for catch up for a coffee or a pintKid-friendliness: High chairs included and children?s menu

Went to The old thatch for the first time in years on Saturday following a rubbish experience. We decided to go in the hope it had improved as we had seen so many positive things about it. Well wish we hadn't bothered, it was a quiet in there at time we arrived We all had snack type food, easy stuff. The staff didn't seem able to get the order right, despite sitting at the table with is to take it. Took several attempts just to get her apple juice even right. Then when they did bring food the Bacon on BLT was so tough you could sole ur shoes with it. When my daughter eventually got her meal the rest if us had finished ours, the mashed potatoes was a tiny amount of frozen mash a one large sausage not great. Needless yo say it will b many more years before we return!!!!
