This hotel exceeds its 3 star rating. The rooms are very good and the bathrooms look recently refurbished - the shower particularly is excellent. Towels and linen are of superior quality and the cleanliness first class. We didn't eat in the restaurant, unfortunately, as we felt the prices were a little too high. The views from the conservatory, however, may make it worthwhile. The staff were friendly and accommodating and we really enjoyed our stay. Our thanks to Lorraine in reception for her helpful advice. A great 2 night stay.

We were given a Travel Zoo voucher for the hotel as a present, so were a little unsure what to expect.Location:The hotel is located at one end of Swanage, with about a 15 minute walk along the sea front into the town centre.Parking outside the hotel itself is limited, with about a dozen spaces. These spaces are for hotel guests and people visiting the restaurant only. This does mean that during the lunch and dinner services in the restaurant it may be hard to find a space but out of these times, spaces are available. However, the road the hotel is on is quiet so spaces out of peak season are easy to find, and it feels like a very safe street to park on. Failing that, the pay and display carpark nearby is a good option, and the hotel offers a reimbursement for the parking fees.We were greeted by the very warm and welcoming Andrew upon arrival, who gave us a tour of the hotel and was happy to answer any questions we had.Room:The current images of the rooms on Tripadvisor and Google simply do not do the rooms justice. It appears as if the hotel rooms, bathrooms and lobby area have been recently updated, and look far better than any pictures I can find online. We stayed in a twin-ensuite room with a view of the road. The room was spotless and very well appointed. Having been recently painted with new carpet, new/ repainted furniture and a generously sized TV with the dressing table being a particular highlight. The bathroom has also been recently updated, with a large walk-in, rainforest shower with easy to use push controls, a big sink and light up mirror. Tea, coffee and milk was provided along with a hair dryer, large thick towels and a fan for the summer months. There were also a lot of plug sockets with USB chargers located by the beds, which was a lovely touch. The Wifi was also very fast for a hotel, reaching 90+mbps. The beautiful, large windows let in a lot of light however the curtains kept this light out in the mornings. The room was a perfect temperature too, with partially opening windows to help keep it cool. The beds were also very comfortable with good quality linen.Food:I can't comment on the lunch and evening meals as we did not eat at the hotel. But from the menu, it seems to offer a very premium dining experience, featuring some lovely fish dishes. Our package included breakfast in the large dining room which offered stunning sea views. There was a continental selection offering cereal, yoghurt, a great selection of pastries, toast and fruit. A selection of juices and a coffee machine were also free to use in a buffet-style setup. There was also the option of a table service Full-English breakfast which was very good quality. Even though it was only one of each item, it was excellent quality and combined with the continental selection was more than enough. The service was also fantastic with helpful, attentive waiters.Facilities:The hotel offers a previously mentioned restaurant, a very nice lounge area looking out to sea which had a band playing on one afternoon during our stay. The bar offers a good selection of drinks but is on the pricier side with draft beers ranging from £6-£7.50 though this is to be expected in a hotel. There is also a gym, pool, sauna and jacuzzi on the lower level of the hotel. This area offers a separate membership for locals but is free to use for hotel guests. You just have to give your room number, a signature and an entry and exit time. The pool itself isn't big and a little dated but is perfect for a quick dip, with the jacuzzi being a nice size and very warm. There are changing facilities, toilets and showers in this part too, along with a very friendly staff member who guided us through all the facilities and offered us some towels.Overall, this hotel is definitely at the top end of 3*. And is great value both in and out of peak season. My only suggestion would be for management to take some more updated photos of the lounge and the rooms, as they're far better than the current images portray.

Services was excellent, for was very nice, slightly overpriced. Parking is free if you're lucky enough to get one of the few spaces. The pay and display carpark is a few .minutes walk. The hotel is right on the beach, and the town is around a five - to ten minute walk, taking your time.Free Wi-Fi with excellent signal, fiber speed is very good.Free view in the room, if you cannot get a picture, go into the menu, rescan for digital TV channel, exit the menu, power the tv off at the plug and back on, after that I had no problems.Would I stay here again? Yes, it's a lovely hotel and very clean.Rooms: Rooms are well maintained and very clean.Walkability: Town is a five - to ten minute walk talking it easy.Food & drinks: Very nice food, overpriced but very nice, staff are excellent.

The hotel needs a little TLC the room was tired and the bathroom floor had cracked tiles in there. The staff were all friendly and attentive. Food excellent and location great, just a short walk into Swanage. For the price of £170 seemed a little high, seeing as the spa was small, cold and dirty.

Just had a mini break there and loved it. The place is quite old fashioned, a bit like being in a miss Marple episode, but it's got a great character and the service is spot on.Direct access to the beach and superb biews across the bay to Swanage Town centre.

Our room had been freshly decorated and the bathroom was a pleasure to use. A double walk in shower with push button controls was so easy to use. The beds were comfy and how super to have thick lined curtains that keep the light out.Rooms: The rooms had been freshly decorated, comfy beds and a new bathroom with a double shower was a pleasure to use. How lovely to have luxury toiletries supplied. The towels were fluffy and generous sizes.Nearby activities: Right on the cliff top with outstanding views. A very short drive to Swanage. Corfe castle is close by and we caught the ferry across to Sandbanks before heading onto Bournemouth where we spent the day.

Well this is truly a GRAND hotel. It has been updated to a very high standard. Stunning tropical rain shower, wonderful crisp linen & great tea & coffee tray. We had an evening meal in the veranda restaurant the quality of food & service were 1st class. Breakfast was in a very modern & bright dining room, again 1st class food & attentive staff. Did not use the Spa, pool or exercise equipment, the area was very clean. Our only problem was at Breakfast on both days was that the kitchen could not supply a soft poached egg, they offered on both days to try again but the had a delicious fry up instead. If you want too stay somewhere GRAND you won't do better for your money than here.We stayed in room 203
