I am 84 years old and have been using this branch and numerous others in the area for almost 20 years, and have always had an excellent rapport with the staff. Sometimes the food is good, sometimes it is appalling, but I have been loyal and always returned. At least it is different to fish and chips all the time. However, the current manageress at The Toby Carvery branch at Cooper Dean Bournemouth whose name is Laura, and at least one of the staff, are completely different. Laura seems to be power crazed, loud, rude and bossy, and looking to pick a confrontation over any situation. One of those people that never want to let you get a word in, and likes to give out orders to customers like myself about, who have the cheek to complain about the slightest thing. Most offensive, and Toby's H.O. seem to have no complaints procedure. They effectively told me that they do not entertain complaints against their staff under any circumstances. So Laura is an unapproachable dictator in her own tiny patch, answerable to no-one, and I am now told that I cannot return. Whatever happened to the ethic that the customer is always right? Shame, but it's Toby's loss not mine. Be a happier person in this New Year Laura. You might actually grow to like it!

Christmas day just passed, myself and my daughter had the Christmas meal at the restaurant at cooper-dean Bournemouth. Disappointment was an understatement. It was so disorganized the nobody had a clue what other staff were doing or where they were supposed to be. We arrived just before our booking time of 15:15hrs to be told we could not sit at any table yet and can we get a drink at the bar and we would be called when a table became available, We found a table in the bar area and we waited and waited so I called over to a waiter to ask if we had been forgot or something and it turned out the family on the table next to us were waiting to. Thanks to the waiter that what seemed to be mass panic as him and another waitress and what seemed to be the manager that day asking us to stay at the table we were at (this not what i would call the restaurant part) and setting up knives and forks for us and the family waiting on the other table. The waiter ask about our starter to which I explained that we didn't want the stater and there was no way to not order it on your website and to not bother bringing it out to us. This was getting to 16:00hrs now and not had any food yet, my daughter said "Dad I'm getting hungry". To that end we went to the carvery to get the main meal. There were Two carvers cutting the meat but they seemed to be bickering about something (all in front of other diners I might add). I finally got served with two small slivers turkey and gammon with mini sausages that looked like pigs with the blankets removed. Got some veg with no problem but when we got to the gravy table there were just three big empty pots were gravy used to be. we got some gravy after a waitress went and got some more. Got back to the table sat down and started eating our meal to be greeted by our waiter with two starters on a tray. to which i said "you might as well take them back cause i told you we didn't want them". so he left them on the end of the table and walked away. I'm sorry to say that tasting the veg was not to the standard I've seen at the Toby in the past either, the sprouts and peas were hard, the mash potato was lumpy and to top it all off the gammon was rubbery/chewy, the turkey was fine but would of been nice to have been given a little more of it. The waiter took the plates away when we finished and the uneaten starters. he told us he'll take the starters off our bill, don't know how because we prepaid. We walked out very Deflated and disgusted on the whole experience. I know it was Christmas day and the staff don't want to be there either. But here my main point and it's a big one, the Toby carvery prides itself on being the ?home of the roast? and the Christmas meal is the most single important meal of the year. The Toby carvery make roast dinners everyday so it's not like They don't know what you doing, but sadly they really dropped the ball this time.

The food was great, roasts a little burnt, the staff were great, the toilets are disgusting. And always are. You need to employ a cleaner to check them through out the day. More than one blocked with toilet paper, dirty tissue paper on the toilet floor, absolutely horrible.

Our waitress was lovely and very attentive. The greater at the door was lovely too. I had requested a seat in the corner and they managed to give us one. The food was lovely (although they did forget the vegan gravy for our vegan food ?????) but they sorted it out with no problems so we?re all very happy. We?re all just very grateful that these lovely people were working on Christmas Eve (and most likely Christmas Day and Boxing Day) to provide us with a lovely meal. Thank you to all of them. Highly recommend.Vegetarian options: Spinach and mushroom pithivier is amazing! As is the festive crumble.

Popped in with a need to warm up after a chill family beach walk. Our server Heather was incredible, very attentive, and excellent speedy service. We'll be back. Thanks again Heather!

Really enjoyed my meal here. I do expect more vegan options from a company of this size but in terms of my experience on the day, Heather made it. Absolutely delightful and attentive service from the moment we sat down. She knew everything we needed to know as we were a group with a few different dietary requirements and allergies. We all loved her and she even did a great job of putting up with my gran! Thank you Heather!

I have been going to this Toby Carvery for many years. Sometimes it can have its off days with the food but that can be overlooked as most of the time the food is great. This was the worst experience I have had in my life eating out.We, including my family have been put off for life and will never be going again! The staff were rude to us from the get go and we were told to wait on numerous occasions for things like being waited on to cutlery etc. The place was falling apart and was super run down. Wallpaper falling away from walls to the sticky smelling carpets nearly tripping us up.We ordered the cheesy mushroom starter, which we have had before and loved. It came out cold and under cooked without a gram of cheese on it. The cheese source tasted like wall paper paste and was super cold and runny. We did get offered a refund, but this did sour our tastes for what was to come. It was not particularly busy on a Saturday afternoon around 2 when we went to get our carvery. There were 2 meats out of 5 on offer and they were bare to the bone. No Yorkshire puds or roast potatoes were there. So we waited a while. The one and only chef who served us was miserable and explained to us that he doesn't even like roasts which was a good start. He was super dirty all over and sweat was dripping off him.Once we started to eat our food it was super cold and the roast potatoes were awful and tasted stale. While we were eating we witnessed one of the waitresses slipping up by the kitchen door on a puddle of water and hurt herself quite badly. We felt super sorry for the waiting staff having to put up with these conditions. They all looked so miserable. We skipped pudding as we just wanted out at this point and waited a good 20 mins before I had to physically go up and see the manager to pay our bill. 1/10 would never go to a Toby ever again. What a letdown!

Visit this Toby regularly and great food as always. We were served by Heather who was extremely polite and very helpful as I am a Coeliac so have to be very very careful anything I eat does NOT contain gluten. She went through the allergies section of the menu to reassure me what was safe fir me to eat. Thanks Heather.Parking: Make sure you put in your car Reg as you go in.
