Went in to sort out an issue with my card. My sister with special needs was with me, Mandy on the desk talked to her about dogs, which she loves. That human touch to customer service is very much lacking these days and it is highly appreciated! Thankyou Nationwide!

THE Nationwide BLOCKED my account. It was the same as when I opened it, I hardly used it, Hardly any interest , did nothing wrong but they decided to block it.Provided ID again, the branch manager said I can now withdraw, got a taxi to the branch but no it's still blocked sir, been going on for over 5 years.will complain to ombudsman for compensation...

Wow, recently had to visit with my Mother to sort out her finances.Staff are amazing, the Italian lady was so helpful & kind.We had to carry out a few processes as my mother is getting old.I never knew banking could be such a joy.Thank you to all the staff here.

Me and my friend had to visit the wonderful place known as nationwide (it's a building society, not a bank!) As soon as we entered the building a wave of content came over us as if we had just come home for Christmas. We spoke with the wonderful member of staff, Martin, who was cool, concise, and a pleasure to be around! I believe our dilemma was one he had not encountered before but, even though he ran into some problems, he was able to resolve all issues relatively quickly, and with ease.

I tried to open a joint account and surprised ? they didn't know how to do it, what point is working in bank and don't know how to open an account ? . I don't recommend this branch.

I went in to pick up a card reader to access online banking (if you order one online it takes around 10 days to arrive). First Direct call it a "secure key". There were 2 tellers on the counter and seemingly in line with modern retail practice another guy just sort of whafting around not doing very much.I joined the queue and inspected the makeover which had taken place since I last visited some 10 years ago.It now looks less like a traditional building society and more like the kind of trendy "lounge" which serves slates of smashed avocados and poached eggs on artisan sourdough toast; there is a large chunky wooden table with telephones and laptops on it so customers who have neither at home can access telephone and internet banking, and free wifi so you can use your own device to do the same. At the far end there are several booths, presumably where you can arrange to come in and discuss mortgage applications and suchlike. None of this was being used at this time.The 'whafter began what appeared to be a triage of the queue since it had doubled in size without moving. "I just need a new secure key" I said, causing him to look at me as if I'd ordered a Mojito. "You know, the thing you put your card in and press the buttons, then it gives you a code to put into internet banking?" "Oh yes, of course, sorry, yes we'll get one of those for you shortly" he said. I hoped he would go off and get one to save me waiting, but I was left to queue instead. To save time and any further confusion at the bar I used my mobile phone and the free wifi to look up a picture of the device I needed, meaning that discounting the queueing time my transaction took less than a minute.Perhaps if the 'whafter' can't be deployed behind the counter to serve customers (sorry, "members") or do anything to reduce the waiting time he could provide some sort of entertainment, whether it be magic tricks, juggling, or some other sideshow act.
