BHF Carlisle were meant to collect two sofas from my home. I booked this in advance and as requested set aside the full day 9-5 for the collection. I moved furniture around and had the sofas prepared to be collected from the doorstep. However, in the afternoon I received a call from the driver to say that despite having booked the two sofas in they weren't going to collect today as they'd taken too many additional items on a previous collection and there was now insufficient space in the van. This is truly unacceptable.I had arranged in advance. I had set aside my time. Arranged things for their convenience and now they're suggesting that I wait a month for the next time they will be in my area.

I feel really sorry for this little charity shop as many of the negative reviews below are about the FURNITURE shop which, though just round the corner, is a totally different place! This is one of Carlisle's better charity shops. It's well lit, well stocked and always smells nice! Friendly staff. I like that they have lots of interesting non fiction books. Also always some interesting bric a brac to look at!

The shop has a good selection but the way they treat those who donate goods should be improved. I think their expectations are a bit high - it's goodwill, I'm not donating brand new stuff because I don't have brand new stuff. Not as grateful as the likes of Eden Valley and Impact. I know they all rely on volunteers but manners and smiles are free BHF.Shop good if you're looking for furniture and house bits at a reasonable price.

Bought some books for a train journey. The assistant was miserable coughing and no hello or please and thank you, I thought they liked volunteering.Go to Eden Valley Hospice. Perfick.

Paid these clowns £700 to clear out an elderly relative's house. They said it would take 1 trip to sort. Now a week down the line and 3 visits later we have smashed lamps and glass they haven't bothered to clear up in 2 of the rooms. As well as 2 damaged panes of glass in internal doors and a fridge they still haven't removed.
