Instantly welcoming and friendly staff, Despite arriving at 2.40pm they willingly served us the most delicious baked camembert and fresh fish fillets. Beautiful food presentation, too. Great selection of beers. Highly recommended, especially after a dip in the sea or a blowy walk on the cliffs.

Disappointing Valentines visit - pre-ordered the Cote de Boeuf sharing steak assuming it would come with the same side options as the steak night offer (as it was not listed anywhere that this was different) - I was told it was just a bowl of chips as a side on Valentines night, asked for the carafe of wine and was told that offer was not on. Still charged £65 for the steak and chips though although the wine and sides were not an option. Sat for 25 minutes with no drink and waited over 1 hour 10 minutes for our food which was pre-ordered the week before. Not a great experience really :-(

I'm sorry to say this because I was really looking forward to my visit but it was disappointing. The service was attentive, and the guys on shift really did a great job, but the food was a real letdown. The presentation of the roast was great, but it really lacked flavour. My beef was grey, maybe due to the maturing or cooking process, but it didn't add to the flavour. It was sadly bland and unappealing. The vegetables were average. Roast potatoes are terrible, not crispy or fluffy, and may have been cooked the previous day. The Yorkshire certainly had as it was stale and inedible. The dish only luke warm. Cauliflower cheese was good, but sadly, it was not enough to make up for the rest. Its a shame as this place does have a great reputation. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day. Pictures below look great my thoughts are style over substance. To finish on a positive though, the starters were top notch!

We had been looking forward to visiting this establishment for a while but from Mevagissey it?s quite a trek, however we finally made it for Sunday lunch. The visit got off to a promising start with a lovely table by the fire, attentive staff, a very palatable glass of red wine and nice hot plates for the food, unfortunately the roast was let down by a couple of components. Far from the ?roasted - rare? beef promised on the menu when I revealed the meat I initially thought I had been served pork by mistake as it was extremely pallid in appearance and though edible was not particularly tasty to eat and certainly not resembling the succulent meat displayed on the website. The roast potatoes were very leathery and difficult to cut and seemed as if they may have been deep fried or not suitable for roasting, however the rest of the vegetables were cooked to perfection. We finished off with a pudding which was also delicious so such a shame that a couple of the main components of the meal proved so disappointing.

Stumbled across this gem of a pub after a windy walk.First of all, the atmosphere was super inviting, being warm, cozy, elegant, relaxed. We were warmly welcomed, and not rushed. The menu is inventive and interesting, taking traditional or simple dishes, and elevating them to something seriously delicious. For example fish with a salsa verde, perfectly cooked, or ham & eggs, perfected with a DIVINE pineapple child chutney (as per our 13yr old).Even better, they offered the child menu for it, ensuring the chutney was included.Saved the best for last: a Spanish fish stew.... with mussels, fish, prawns and a sublime soup base.On request, the chef gave a list of ingredients, containing orange peel and juice. If you are in the wider area, do not miss this place!!! Make a detour even.Well worth it.Great beers and ales too.And delightful, fun staff.

First time visiting this lovely pub. The fire was on and felt very cosy. The food was delicious and we cannot fault the service we received from the waiter. We hope to visit again soon.

Would 100% recommend to anyone in st Agnes, my partner and I have come down on holiday and popped in for a pint, ended up staying for a fabulous open mic night, the most amazing fries we have ever had and great conversations. Its a gorgeously cosy place with such a homely feel to it, and a stunning menu with great prices and great quality. All the staff were so so friendly and welcoming and went above and beyond for all their customers. Special thanks to Lara, Steven and Alex for a great night. Will absolutely be coming back here!
