Bought a kitchen and installation from here. Worst decision installation bodged damage to white goods and installer (Wilf) lied to our face. 2 months down the road still cannot get problems fixed and the store manager John Mackle could not be more disinterested. If that is the attitude of the manager no wonder the other reviews here are so bad. My advice is stay well clear do not really deserve the 1 star but had to put something.

One of the store associates repeatedly came up to me and reminded me ?we close in 10 minutes?. Not offering to help or to guide me but just to get out basically. I ended up checking out 3 minutes before closing and my dad walked back (to the isle behind the checkout) to grab painters tape and she practically Yelled ?WE CLOSE IN 3 MINUTES?. She then served us with bad attitude. It was a very weird experience as we ended up leaving before the store even close.

Rudest staff I have ever encountered almost to the point of hostility, not a good shopping experience.

We ordered and paid for our kitchen in January, at a cost of over 15k. Projected installation was end of march, but this was brought forward to beginning of march as a fitter became available. Most of the kitchen was delivered end of February. However, nobody checked the availability of the worktop. So a delay for two weeks, then when it finally arrived, there wasn't enough! Another three week delay followed by more delay while we waited for the fitter to be available again. The whole time, Wickes customer service were unresponsive, obstructive, rude and unsympathetic. The whole process has been unprofessional and shambolic. Work was finally completed last Thursday, so nearly two months after we took delivery. Nearly two months of our house looking like a building site! We will never use Wickes for a major house project ever again.

I’ve been using B &Q for years out of habit & recently changed to Wickes as prices were & are so much cheaper. Cost is not the only reason why I am & have returned multiple times in the last week. I had a major project of an outside gazebo to build & had superb service from knowledgeable staff & team members who advised & showed me to various areas of the store as I was new to the site. One even came & found me after an error I had not spotted on a receipt where they had over charged me. All was sorted quickly with the refund & an apology. This is how you handle customers. Other places do such a bad job at this simple but effective area of the job. Big shout out to Sally who was both friendly & professional, who advised me on the trade app, gave me direction in store & was happy, friendly & professional. Staff like Sally make all the difference!!!! Thank you

We had a bathroom fitted with wickes in July 2021. Ever since we?ve had non stop issues with the toilet blocking. We had an independent plumber come out a few times to unblock it however in November we called them back out again however this time it did not work and instead the pressure of plunger burst the pipe causing water to pour through ceiling into our brand new kitchen (fitted in 2022). ?The plumber put his camera down into the pipe to view the problem and find out why it wouldn?t unblock. The problem was waste had built up at the end of the pipe over the year as the waste pipe had zero gradient so waste did not run down the pipe after flushing. He could tell us this was the problem within two minutes of looking at the pipe.??We?ve contacted wickes to resolve the issue the same day on 4th November 2022. We were told they?d contact the installation customer care team and get back to us. We got a one sentence forwarded reply. ?Nothing we can do?.??After chasing this for a while to understand how they could make this decision without actually speaking to us directly, we got a forwarded reply stating as they did not fit the waste pipe it was not their problem. ??Three reasons why this is very much wickes problem:??1. We never had an issue with the pipe prior to our new bathroom being installed. Our new toilet sits lower than our previous one therefore this change in pipe gradient even if small should have been known to ?expert? installers (especially given a plumber noticed it in 2 mins and the installers were here for 2 weeks)??2. Wickes states on their website ?wickes approved installers are on hand to ensure all the technical aspects of your project are fully considered and discussed? ALL and FULLY. This INCLUDES the waste pipe which no they did not install but yes they make changes to and connected one of their products to as part of installation. They state themselves they have the expertise which should allow them point out if by fitting the toilet it would cause issues later due to lack of gradient in pipe. No reasonable consumer would know this to point it out to an installer. If we did we?d all be installing bathrooms ourselves. ??3. The Consumer Rights Act applies to services, including bathroom installation. It says a trader must perform the service with reasonable care and skill. With bathroom installation consumers rely on traders (e.g. wickes) and their installers skill and expertise to advise that the installation will work as expected. Fitting a product you supplied knowing full well it won?t function as expected long term because you?ve failed to provide crucial advice about the fitting is mis-selling plain and simple, whether the problem is with the product you supplied or what you connected it to. ??We rang customer services in December to challenge the lack of satisfactory response. They asked us to email them videos the plumber had taken from inside the pipe and they?d look into and get back to us (we spoke to Dalton). 1 month later no response.??After month of waiting we rang to make a complaint and said the words ?I would like to make a complaint?. No complaint logged. Promised a response by the Friday 20th January, no response. ??Good news is 3 months has passed on Monday and I get to contact the ombudsmen instead, hopefully they actually care about people, because wickes don?t.

Staff really helpful, happy to show you where items are, explain what you need and even how to do it. A nice store to shop in
January 2023 by Shannon Hayes
Staff are ridiculous at this place. Items are all damaged before you've even taken them off the shelves. The aisles are barely wide enough for a trolley and yet they give you the biggest trolleys in the world which means you end up with congestion everywhere. God forbid you have a child with you too because this place is "for builders only mate". And don't get me started on the parking lot. The spots are smaller than a South London cycle lane. And it seems nobody in Peterborough has any sense of spatial awareness, or manners, for that manner.

A search bar is to find the product you want, not to be directed to anything else.Useless

It's been a few years since I've been in Wickes and it hasn't changed that much as I remember. Staff seemed polite and the actual shop has plenty of goods. It was clean and the shelves had plenty of goods on them with it being displayed neatly. I could easily spend lots with all the toys for boys & girls who are into DIY or for builder who's needing stuff for the job there working on. So Wickes a good place to shop.
