I received a disappointing LASIK surgery at Optical Express Cambridge in August, 2023. Outcome of the surgery is a failure of an over correction of vision.December 2023 I?ve had check-ups to receive a further surgery as the contract entails. I?ve been told they will contact me with regards to a surgery date but not heard anything for 8 weeks. Having contacting them during this time, I?ve been then told to undertake ?another? scan.Having completed another scan in February, I haven?t heard anything again. I had to write a letter before action to get them to fulfill their obligations of contract. It?s a joke as it?s been 6 months since I paid and my vision has gone worse.

Excellent service. Optician explanined everything very well. It's a shame I could not remember his name. He explained every detail without any rush and politely. Cost also very reasonable.

Optician was lovely - really thorough eye test and a great service. But go elsewhere if you?re looking for new glasses; there was only one board of available frames, and staff said that they are focusing on eye surgery.

Be careful about the staff here specially their store manager as she will call you 10 times and tell you everything to sell the contract. She has cheated me big time by saying you don?t have to read terms and conditions and everything is covered for 1 year. I now have to follow complaint procedure to get things sorted.

I had laser eye surgery here in September/October last year. I had two dates because I was not fully prepared for how intrusive the process would be, and because of this my discomfort meant that they had to change the way they treated me (I had lasik in one eye and lasek in the other, because the vacuum seal could not be maintained around one of my eyes and the bruising was too significant to continue)The second surgery was a success. With regards to the staff: I found the reception staff to be rather wishy washy and uninterested. The Nurses and Optomotrists were much more attentive and understanding. The surgeon I had, while clearly experienced, also seemed very rushed and generally uninterested, and this was reflected in his attitude to my anxiety in the processes. The nurses were really remarkable throughout. My biggest issue with this company however (not just the Cambridge branch) is their "aftercare". They claim to care for you after your surgery to a high standard, but within 3 months they will charge you for eye drops, that are now necessary and they state may be necessary for 12 months, and realistically longer, and they do not offer any discounts for Sunglasses or otherwise, despite them being necessary, and despite them having farmed you out of around £2000 per eye for the surgery. It really felt as though this was a huge let down. They book you in for the surgery, tick all their necessary boxes before, during and after, but then once their safety period is over it's like you were never their customer.

My or My! What an experience. For years on a yearly basis I have been going to clinics in Cambridge UK to have my eyes tested, including the popular local ones. This is the very first time I have felt that my eyes were more important than selling me designer glasses. And I am over 85. Indeed my prescription was given to me without asking and a digital copy sent to me by email. This explained all the test that were done and comments. I always complain about bad services - here is a good one.The reception area is so good, for a moment I thought I was private - no! Just NHS.

Very accommodating after I thought I had an issue with my new glasses. In fact the error was mine, but still gave me a free follow check up

Extremely nice and helpful staff. Also, the best Optometrist I've had the pleasure to be seen by (he was senior level). And I've tried different places before. Very high profesionalism.

Highly recommend this place if you need a pair of glass. Courtney is super helpful and kind, willing to take the time to communicate and genuinely help me with the issues I have. I am very grateful that she works here and she?s an amazing addition to the team here:)

A screw fell out of my sunglasses while visiting Cambridge, and the lens fell out. These guys were so helpful in repairing it, for no charge.

I recently had laser eye surgery at Optical Express and it was the best decision I ever made! Sonia and all the staff were amazing and very professional. I could not recommend Optical Express enough for laser eye surgery. Thank you!

Unfortunately I can't give this company a great review. I used them for laser eye surgery on both eyes. On the medical side, everything was fantastic - this is the reason for the three stars. The initial consultation was extremely detailed and I really felt taken care of and listened to. The treatment itself was received by a very qualified and competent doctor and medical team and I'm really happy with my results. This side of the process is really top notch. However, I have a lot of complaints about ridiculous bureaucratic practices and administrative muck ups that really ruined the entire experience for me. Firstly, it is almost impossible to make an appointment for the surgery at a convenient time for someone who works full time. I ended up having to have my surgery in Birmingham a month after I had originally planned for this reason. Communication is really lackluster at best.As for the post-op care, my next day appointment and aftercare consultation went really well and I was happy with the attention I received (both in Birmigham). However, for the 1-month follow up, the Cambridge clinic has a bizarre rule that you can only be seen at 9am or 5pm - nothing in between. They told me I can call the day before and check if there's any more convenient spaces still available that I can be squeezed into. This kind of gives me the impression that now they have your money, you're almost a second class citizen and they're reserving the more convenient spaces for new patients who will bring in new money. I understand that it's a busines but given that I paid over £4,500, I would expect at the very least to be given my choice of appointment time.Overall, this experience could be improved A LOT by just a few small changes that would be easy to implement and make the customer feel like less of a cash cow.
