I have always found good stuff at this book shop. As well as books C Ds. DVDs and an excellent range of greeting cards. A while ago now they had a make over and done a splendid job. Well arranged and easy to browse.

When it comes to charity shops there are a few that really set the bench mark. In terms of the bookshop it has to be Oxfam. More like a conventional bookshop every possible angle is catered for down here. From natural history through to politics to romance - they have it all. With a few comfortable chairs in the middle and a cracking music and film section to boot this makes for a very healthy shop indeed.

Oxfam book store looks very old-fashioned from the outside but it has got to be one of the best second-hand bookstores around. The store has vast selections on various subjects, both for academic and recreational purposes. The shop even sells recent best-sellers second-hand. An interesting quirk is that one-quarter of the shop is taken over by fair-trade goods such as coco beans, tea and chocolate. Therefore, you can pick up something tasty to eat for when you read your latest purchase-all the while supporting two different causes!

If you want to go second hand shopping, head to Clifton and you're sure to get a better class of tat. This certainly applies at the Oxfam Bookshop, where the books may cost a bit extra (£1.99 plus each), but someone's already done the sifting for you, meaning you don't have to wade through a sea of Jeffrey Archers and Barbara Cartlands to get to the bargains. The quality is certainly high - my wife and I nipped in recently and ended up leaving with three books each costing £15. They also stock vinyl and a selection of pricey first editions, some of which are priced at over £100, which presumably have been donated by some extremely generous/stupid patrons.
