What a lovely experience. Fresh, bright, clean store, helpful staff on hand with none of this 'do the work yourself - be your own checkout assistant' stuff. Good advice, good prices, clear information.

Nice shopping environment with plenty of choice. Products tend to be of the higher end of the market with a lot of big name brands. It's great to have a brows round and look at some lovely items.That's not to say I've never bought anything from them, I have many times as they can be the cheapest and good customer service too.

Called in advance to check gift wrap service was still running, was told yes, go up to top floor and they?ll wrap any and all gifts, no matter the sizeLugged items to town centre only to find out they only wrap John Lewis bought items.Not made clear by website or customer service person on the phone.Charge up to £8 per gift, you?d think they?d just wrap anything.

Excellent customer service as you would expect for John Lewis. However, a big thank you to Simon who works in the baby department at the Reading store who went above and beyond to help me source an item that was showing online as in stock in store, but wasn?t actually there on the shop floor when I went to look. I really appreciated the time he took to help me resolve this issue and order it to a local Waitrose store instead.

Wonderful Store for Quality Clothes & Cosmetics! Also cosy restaurant on 1st floor for coffee, tea & snack meals ! We have been shopping @ John Lewis for over 30 years during times when it was branded Heelas ! SO happy that the store survives whilst so many in the nearby Oracle have closed!

Bought some socks about a month ago which didn?t have the price on, which I told the cashier about. Back a month later and they haven?t bothered to put the prices on them and the cashier this time just looked at me like I was crazy for pointing it out. Service used to be better in John Lewis.

My wife and I went in uncertain whether to buy a Samsung TV and sound bar on the current discount which ends today. Thankfully the poor service we received from the Tech dept (first assistant we felt we were imposing on his time and he needed to be elsewhere, then the second assistant who I guess worked for LG came over and dissed the Samsung picture quality) meant we didn't buy it saving us over £2000.UPDATE: On a positive note went back into Reading John Lewis today (11 Dec 23) and bought some luggage and the sales assistant (Claire) was really nice and friendly, very helpful and cheerful. Thank you.

Bought 3 sunglasses from here today and staff were very lovely esp brisilda and hanefeh they were very patient with us and that made us take our time and choose the best sgalsses for us. Great customer service. We?re very happy with our purchase thankyou ?

I LOVE John Lewis and shop in lots round the country. I tried this shop for the first time today to spend £2000 on a TV. I have never been treated so badly in a shop in my life. There were no staff in the tv department except a grey long haired aged member of staff who ignored us. After 10 mins I went to another department to ask if someone could help me. The lady huffed a bit but found a young man who we had to force to speak to us, every question we asked he huffed and sighed at, we gave up trying to force him to ask our 2 questions and we gave up. As we stood trying to decide what to do, the grey haired man decided to come to speak to us. I was completely shocked at his first sentence, he said he hated Samsung and accused John Lewis of deliberately putting a picture on the TV that we would never achieve. He made out that we were stupid for even thinking to buy a Samsung TV! He then decided to argue with my other half. We just walked out completely gobsmacked. We will not spend a penny in this shop ever again but will choose to shop at John Lewis Cambridge and Norwich where the customer service is excellent. Maybe you should send your staff there for training.

I was served by Aiden on Saturday while looking at Bluetooth speakers. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the products and really helpful. I was only looking but he was so good I left with a £240 Sonos speaker. I had no intention of making the purchase there and then but was convinced that I was never going to get better service anywhere else so might as well buy there and then. Aiden is a credit to the store.

I would give 5 stars and all my gratitude to the staff at the home furniture department. I was searching for a new mattress and although I was confused with the numerous products out in the market, the people explained to me better than anyone else and helped me to narrow down my list. I felt that I was treated with respect and reliability and eventually I made the best choice.

I had a very disappointing experience at John Lewis today. I found the perfect pair of shoes but noticed that the leather padding on the inside of the sole was coming off the other shoe. I mentioned this at the till; the staff tried to sell me a faulty product for full price. The reasoning I was given was that there was nothing wrong with the outerior of the shoe. Please be careful when buying from this John Lewis as they do not care about the quality of the products they are selling and will try to sell you faulty products.

I would give a zero star review if at all was possible.My pregnant friend came to return a £600 mobile phone this morning. The IT Support Manager has questioned firstly saying that there were accounts already signed on, she explained that it was not and showed to him. He shrugged his shoulders and rudely said that there?s nothing he can do. He didn?t admit to his mistake of being wrong.His advice to her was to sell it on eBay. Imagine in todays living crisis, purchasing a brand new phone worth £600 and being advised that.I was so angry to hear how she was treated. I think there was an element of discrimination involved in it too.Would not recommend visiting the store!!!! Maybe worth training certain staff members in basic human decency. This gentlemen was an IT Support Manager and works in the technology sector.As a response to the message below sent by John Lewis - it was unused. In fact it has been accepted by your online team. However this colleague was not helpful or collaborative enough to take his time and come to that conclusion.

I do not know where to start for this appalling establishment, I was at John Lewis reading last Friday and firstly I was false accused as a shop lifter whilst I was walking around with my son , who is physically challenged , they had to search me in front of my son which left him shocked and upset , and then to make matters even worse , I then saw Multiple colleagues proceed to laugh and point at my autistic son , I actually couldn?t believe my eyes when this happened, this is damn right disgusting.
