Just had the most miserable experience at a garage ever when taking my car for an MOT. Went there because it was free with Halfords Motoring Club, but will happily pay my local garage to do it next time. Certainly won't be going back there under any circumstances. It's a real shame when the staff at the Auto Parts store in Newbury are so efficient & helpful.

I took my car in for an MOT test and Full Service. I had signed up for the premium membership and had managed to get a free winter check done a week before and I had expressed my worry about getting bad news, Paul was very understanding and kind and supported me throughout the whole process. It?s very hard to find a trustworthy garage and I am really glad I found Paul. I received great customer service and my car was reset and serviced to a high standard. They will be mine and my friend?s go to place going forward for all car related issues. Thank you Halfords.

I've recently visited for a tyre change due to a puncture.After the tyre change, the car kept showing tyre pressure monitoring system malfunction. I've had 3 more visits since then. First one they deleted the error. But later it reappeared. Second visit they confirmed that there was an issue (no signal received from the tyre which was replaced) and they needed a part for it.Besides, number of times I reminded that the TPMS system was functioning perfectly before the replacement which I guess they had no doubt.Finally they told me they would replace with a charge around 179£. As a goodwill they were happy to cover labour but the part price was still 125.When I reminded that the TPMS sensor was working before the replacement, their explanation was something like "This happens , your sensor must be weak hence we cannot be liable for this".Meanwhile their replacement sensor was fitted on the car to test. After I got to know that I'd be paying for something which I did not break, I asked them to install back my old sensor(before they program the new replacement sensor), then I left the workshop.Since then my old TPMS has been functioning just fine, hence I understand that the sensor is not that "weak" and maybe it was just an installation problem?Just to add to what I mentioned above, when I checked the price of genuine sensor from car parts shop, it was 60£ and I confirmed that it's an auto programming, quality sensor(unlike the Halfords 125£ part for which I had to visit one more time to program manually)If this tyre replacement process is a high risk process which can easily damage "weak" sensors, why don't you just inform customers?Let's assume for a moment that customers must be charged for those "weak" sensors damaged, how on earth you submit a new task with it's separate labour and expensive part price(clearly knowing when it happened and how it happened).I hope this review can help change the processes carried out by Halfords which cause distress and frustration.I'd be happy to discuss about my experience in detail with anybody from Halfords.

Good and friendly Customer Service from the front desk staff, David and Paul. Learned about some Halford bonus benefits available throughout the year. Car booked in for an MOT - went in and came out in good time, no unnecessary waiting about and the MOT fella was polite and friendly in passing too. Overall, happy with the service and will go back.

Halfords saved me today by checking over my car as my right rear indicator wasn?t working. They saw my car at 8.30am and car was ready before midday. It was a free service and made the changes (which may usually cost) and returned the car to me free of charge. Very friendly and Paul on reception was very helpful.

Chaotic booking system. I booked a service and Mot but on dropping the car off I was told an Mot was not on the job card. On pushing it was acknowledged that an Mot had been booked on line but had not been included on the job card.The reception area is poor and scruffy.In the end the work was undertaken on time but overall I was left feeling disappointed by my experience.

Would give it 0 stars if I could. Absolutely awful, has really gone downhill recently. I paid £160 for brake pads and discs to be changed to find out a month later by complete accident that it didn?t get done so I essentially paid for my car to stand in a garage all day

Booked online to have two new tyres fitted. Booked on a Thursday for fitting on the Saturday. Turned up only to be told the tyres hadn't come in! Rescheduled for the Tuesday morning. Was told to bring it down first thing and it would be done while we waited. Arrived on Tuesday only to be told someone would call when it was done as they had two mots to get done first! Cancelled there and then! Find a dedicated tyre fitting company Halfords Newbury aren't up to the task! Now I have to wait 5 days for my money back that they've had since last Thursday! Not impressed!!
